Set times for FYF are out!
Still mulling over options for Saturday, but Sunday looking like this for me
Jonathan Richman-> Pional-> Chelsea Wolfe -> Baroness-> The Melvins-> MGMT-> My Bloody Valentine
Leaving a little room in on both days for the comedy stage. David Cross was awesome last year!
The other opener wasn't bad. And Qotsa was of course all epic. First time seeing them and now I know why they are known as a great live band.
Next for me is Black Crowes at the Wiltern in Nov. Anyone else her goin?
FYF was great yesterday! Metz' set was blistering- a real knock out. Charles Bradley... maybe my favorite set of the day. So smooth. And I appreciate the cleverness of laying down rubber tiling in front of each stage. Keeping dust to a minimum this year.
Chelsea Wolfe, The Melvins, My Bloody Valentine today. Yeehaa!
I'll change direction here..... Took the kids last night to Taylor Swift. It was supposed to be me, wife and the two girls but my wife was sick so my son grabbed the other ticket. my son was more blown away and happy that we were sitting "on the ice" and just below the scoreboard, center ice. The girls, age 15 and 13 were a screaming mess. My ear drums are still ringing. I really haven't been to a large selection of concerts, they range from Alan Jackson to Elton John, which I think we have seen about 10 times. But last nights show, based on production is probably the best show I have ever seen. Every song was a genuine production and I definitely feel as though we got our moneys worth. Looks like I'll be blasting Taylor Swift in my car for a while, with the windows rolled up of course.
What impressed me most about Taylor Swift is that she is not a lip sync-dancer like most pop stars are today. Watching her playing the guitar and piano was a pleasant surprise. I give her credit for going to Nashville at 14 to find her dream. Like you, I have been going to older artists concerts such as Springsteen for many,many years and she is not there yet but she is getting closer. She is only 23 so the skies the limit.
