I think I went to that venue in SB, but can't remember who I went to see. The Ozzfest, maybe?
haha, pomona's not bad. I have great memories of going to shows at the glasshouse and grabbing a beer or shots at one of the places down the block beforehand. artsy fartsy looking little block.
driving home through the city towards the highway around midnight is a little scary though... haha.

I liked going to shows at the glass house. But I do remember being afraid to walk back to my car a few times.

    But that's punk rock, right?

Oh, I agree with you, Lunchie! The Glasshouse is all sorts of awesome! I watched KMFDM there. I think it stands for Kylie Minogue Fans Don't Masturbate.

It's just that peeps who just don't hang out there, but actually live there have told me some horror stories! :O

Like, the type of place were it's actually a lot better to visit than to live in. One can say the same thing about the area near to the Santa Monica pier.

But at least you are more likely to see dolphins by SM.

That was my first and hopefully last time ever going to that debacle of a venue. It took almost two hours to get out of there. The only thing that kept me sane was the entertainment of some cars trying to go out this back exit that only led right back to a non-moving route out. In order to go out this exit, cars had to go over this sharp dirt bump, so every time a car that was low to the ground came up to it, they had to rev up their engine and try to get enough speed for when their rear wheels left the ground to make it. Also, a few of the cars banged their undersides against the bump. But hey, what are hundreds of dollars compared to only having to wait an hour and fifty minutes to get out?

If that thing has really been there since the early 80s, maybe build a few more roads out. Also, they were not letting people in for a while and I missed the opening band. And the side stage that they put the first two bands on was positioned in a spot for minimum visibility. Overkill did not really do it for me, though, which is fun because I get to see them again next September.

I had never seen Anthrax or Testament, and Anthrax was definitely good, but Testament really surprised me with how great they were. Very heavy, but not so much that it overwhelms the actual music. The other thing I was not expecting was how good Dave Mustaine is with a guitar. Megadeth were fantastic and did a good mix of material, covering the early material, the Countdown To Extinction stuff, and a little of the new CD.

Iron Maiden and Sabaton brought it like they have every time I have seen either band. It was great to see Sabaton play for that many people in the US, and the crowd definitely perked up for Primo Victoria, their most Maiden-esque song with all the galloping. Maiden was Maiden, and they were playing some of their best material. There are only so many bands I will make sure to see every time, even if I have to drive out to the middle of nowhere in 95 degree weather. Just their stage set is amazing.

Awesome (except for the parking). I've never seen sabaton live but am encouraged more every time I read a positive review. I got a text from a friend at the show that she had never heard of sabaton but they were amazing.

    Maiden is maiden!

ya, i think it'd be hard to resist after seeing her agent provocateur ad.

was that san bernardino show at the place formerly known as the glen helen blockbuster pavilion? my husband went to a show there before our time together and he said it was very dusty. then two of my most favorite bands--thursday and thrice--played there back in 2003 and i decided not to go because i was like "san bernardino?! ew! wtf." lol. i'd seen both bands play separately before so i wasn't missing a lot, but it would have been nice to go see a bill like that if they'd played some better venue. later on, no doubt played a show there and apparently traffic coming in was so horrible that a lot of people missed their set and they had to send a mass apology out after it was all said and done. sounds awful.
