Though I'm not even 30 yet, I still feel too old for Coachella. I'm only going if i get free passes for a day like last year - and even then I only saw two sets worth watching (New Order & Spiritualized). I'd rather just wait until all the bands i wanna see play LA.

out of the smaller bands for this year, Title Fight is worth a listen - kinda garagey rock but with technical skill, very 90s - though they sound nothing like either band if you like Pavement or Dinosaur Jr you'll prob dig. Foxygen despite their awful name are good - lazy Sunday psych/pop music. Wye Oak as mentioned before is quite good too.

but no doubt when the FYF lineup is announced it's going to beat Coachella again

Anybody else check out Skinny Puppy last week? It was my first time seeing them, i enjoyed it.

Also, Clan of Xymox has a couple shows here in Feb, might check out the one at the Complex in glendale.

True. I'll concede I don't go to many. And there are some definite drawbacks, like the fact most festival sets are rarely full sets from the artist (with the exception of headliners). But I have been going to Coachella for 8 years running and FYF for the last 3 years and I've yet to have anything less than a great time. And I ain't no youngster!
