We just saw it and my whole family and I loved it. It dragged a bit in the middle but I loved the whole story and the way it ended was truly a fan's dream. Bane, Catwoman, Gordon and all the other cast were great too.
I know you and I differ here jd but I am always perplexed at what a great story teller and director Nolan is. I am amazed - this time by the two planes stunt - that he pulls off the stunts that he does in these movies. His scripts are amazing as well. I am very interested to see where this all goes - wink, wink, nudge, nudge - after that ending!

I just saw it and I liked it. It dragged like others mentioned, but I always thought that Talia would be more of a bad ass like in Arkham City. Bane was cool, but I am left wondering if J Gordon Levitt is going to put on the cowl
Beautiful ending.
The Dark Knight Rises was sadly a disappointment for me. I do hold The Dark Knight in VERY high regard and knew going in that this would not match up, but didn't think I'd be let down to the degree I was. Did I hate it? No. Is it the abomination that the late 90's Joel Schumacher flicks were? Hell no. Christopher Nolan meant well regarding wrapping up his trilogy, but there was just too much wrong with TDKR that I can't recommend it, and being the Batman fanatic I am that hurts to say.
I must say I quite enjoyed it.
And let me add that Marion Cotillard is hot.
It's way too early to say this and I won't have a definitive answer for a long time, but this movie makes a case for best one of the series.
Random thought of the moment (and trust me, there will be plenty): As far as story goes through the entire trilogy, it starts in the first movie with Ra's Al Ghul and the League of Shadows wanting to destroy Gotham because "it is beyond saving". The second movie shows why Ra's wanted to destroy Gotham. In a way, even though TDK was a bigger movie than BB, thematically it was smaller and really only concerned itself with the small picture. The third film, we have the LOS return to finish the job. Ra's is really the main antagonist in the series which works so well with how they play with right, wrong, and shades of gray in the three movies.
I also really enjoy the parallels that show up from time to time. One that I've always liked was in the second film where Alfred is explaining to Bruce about the bandit and rubies. Bruce asked how they caught him and Alfred says they burned the forest down. Sound like the plan of another Batman foe throughout the series?
I'd love to hear what you disliked about specifically, since you enjoyed the previous film.
Personally, I loved it. BoobyTrap and I saw it twice this weekend. Some quick thoughts:
-I think I liked the 2nd film better.
-Anne Hathaway was my favorite thing about it. And not just cause dat ass.
-My mancrush on Tom Hardy continues to spread unabated.
-I thought the ending was maybe a little too sticky sweet, but it felt really nice.
-I really enjoyed all the little things that were done to call back to the previous films. Especially with the music. It really emphasized that this was the ending of a complete story.
-Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine look so old. :(
-I love the large number of recognizable character actors Nolan uses.
-The cinematography was ****ing immense.
Guess that's all for now. Remember to mark any spoilers as such so as not to ruin it for everyone else.
