It's funny how they keep teasing that Dexter will not get a happy ending. After all of the hilarity in which he has avoided capture in this silly world, it will actually be quite unbelievable when he is caught.
I can't wait for Ghost Harry... "Dexter, how could you have made such a costly mistake? Remember the code?" Dex: "Pops, I've made like four dozen glaring mistakes over the last six seasons. I actually thought the universe revolved around me and I couldn't be caught."
Dexter Season 8 Will Be Indeed Be the End for the Showtime Series | Shock Till You Drop
This is NOT CONFIRMED. Les Moonves let a comment slip on an investors call and all the sites are running with it. Probably true...but grain of salt.
Showtime Confirms DEXTER’S Upcoming Eighth Season Will Be Its Last; Watch a Clip from the Final Season
Thanks to Kingsqueen for the assist, it's finally confirmed. One less silly show to watch, hoping against hope that it will stop sucking out loud. True Blood...you're next.

Here's a Taste of What Dexter Is About This Season | Shock Till You Drop
DEXTER stars Michael C. Hall in his Golden Globe and SAG Award-winning role as Dexter Morgan, a complicated and conflicted blood-spatter expert for the Miami police department. Season eight begins six months after LaGuerta's murder - and Dexter is still managing life as a dad, brother, and serial killer. As Deb (series star Jennifer Carpenter) struggles to deal with the consequences of her actions, a mysterious woman comes to work with Miami Metro, offering first-hand information on Dexter's past.
Well...that was a great start. Lets see them screw it up. Love the teaser during the preview for the coming season with Deb telling Quinn 'I want to confess...', they cut away before she finishes saying ...'I like eggs and rainy days.'
Whatever. At least, unlike True Blood, they are bowing out and saving me from myself.
