I could see her looking the other way on Speltzer...but if she does the deed I think that will be all for me.She did make some good points about how Dexter isn't much different, trophies and on some level enjoying killing.

Agreed, but they did kind of lay a small framework. i.e. Deb telling LaGuerda she had a gut feeling, but LaGuerda not really doing anything. If she sees more killers on the prowl with the police being mired helpless, does she start to see a result in what Dexter does?

Oofa, Dexter journeyed back to the corner of ****ing & ridiculous again last night. Yep, anyone writing a book just leaves their **** on and unlocked. A detail, yet indicitive of the faulty writing. Dexter has become so sloppy that he would be caught by Barney Fife at this point. Ridiculous.

Do most authors you know always turn off their computers and always keep their files password protected and their filing cabinets locked in their home offices? That seems like an unnecessary nuisance to me, as someone who works at home as a freelance writer, because I'm not really too concerned about people breaking into my house and going through my stuff. Of all of the weekly silliness, THAT is your complaint? Weird.

I'm loving this season alot more than the last two. Dexter's derping sloppiness has been going on for seasons now (as has already been beaten to death in this thread)... at least this year there is a bad-ass "Big Bad", some compelling drama with Deb knowing and now another interesting twist last night.

Actually excited for the next episode to come this year as opposed to just watching it for the sake of keeping up like I felt I have at points over the last few.

Did you not read the sentence that followed about it being a detail yet indicitive of faulty writing? C'mon man, most computers by default revert to a passwoord screen after a few minutes of inactivity. And an out of season rinky dink amusement park is going to have a giant Star Trek like button on a pedastal that allows the average trespasser to 'make it snow'. Yeah, no water mains would need to be turned on, or electrical panels that might actually be alarmed. Come on. And, once again, Dexter lets someone off the table and there he is with his 'dark passenger' hanging out. At what point WILL you get insulted by the attack on common sense? Hell, even the ghost of Dexter's dad is practically saying 'are you ****ing kidding me?'
And yes, there is a big bad. Not due to anything other than a great performance by Ray Stevenson. Not because that story is going anywhere or doing anything. C'mon...Dexter is borderline special needs at this point. It's like EVERYONE in the last Batman movie knowing that Bruce Wayne was Batman...

THAT is a much better gripe. Yes, I read your "detail" comment, I was just amused that you mentioned the computer of all things as the lack of attention to detail. "Most" computers don't make you put your password in w/ a few minutes of inactivity, that certainly isn't the default and again would be a nuisance for most of us that aren't super worried about security on our home desktop that no one else accesses. It didn't even occur to me that the computer should have been off and password protected, but to each their own I guess

The end of this episode was BLATANTLY an intentional abandonment of common sense and an act of passion in the moment. This isn't an unintentional snafu like, oh, Dexter running around in his kill gear with Travis Marshall in a COLLEGE for example, because that one professor was obviously going to be the only person there...

This isn't Season One's cold, calculated, emotionless Dexter and it hasn't been for quite a while now. An act of passion isn't offensive to me as a viewer, it is just another sign that Dexter is human, which we've seen him develop into over the last few years. It was incredibly stupid to let her live after showing her the Dark Passenger, but that is actually the point this time I think, not a convenient oversight.

C'mon man, stop being such an apologist. Last weeks episode was very solid, and I even mentioned that...giving credit where credit was due. Dexter's trap for Isaac was very well conceived and was a bright spot as far as thinking things through. Last nights episode was a veritable greatest hits of ludicrous developments. I mentioned the computer first but drop the needle down anywhere and I can find you an example of bad writing. Some episodes I complain about but I am honest that I can still enjoy them. Last nights just asked for TOO much suspension of disbelief. And since I am listing issues, the relationship between Dexter and Deb is tiresome. She overreacts and acts completely out of character and he acts like a petulant child. Their interactions are shrill and bring any momentum to a screeching halt. Its not entertaining or realistic but you and others continue to lap it up. This show needs to end. I don't care about Quinn...he's gonna die. I no longer even care about Angel, he's a gelding at this point. And the wierd intern is dead and oh, wait...you don't remember him. It's ok, neither do the writers. I have read fairy tales that had more attention to detail at this point. Hell, the last Die Hard movie was more credible.

I personally enjoy how they've just swept his kid under the rug.

I wanted to mention that, but I knew i would get the 'he sent him to Grandma's...duh' response. But yeah, the damned kid should be name Plot Device for all of the relevancy he has. Once again...lousy substandard writing.
