While I don't feel as strongly as JD about the finale...I was a little disappointed. There was no real fear that either Dexter or Harrison would actually be killed (Dexter, for sure/as usual...but hopefully by the final season we can actually have that uneasiness). It was just a little *yawn*...yeah, yeah, yeah, bad guy's gonna die. I did like the ending, though...and look forward to see what they do with it next season.

Now, Homeland...that was a good finale!

That article is rubbish and it proves that reality is no longer a concern on this show. And yes, Homelands finale' was way better.

Oh, I liked the fact that last week Dexter morphed into Criss Angel during the lake of fire. Also, ummmmmmmm no real investigation other than, Oh you fell off your boat and swam to shore, are you ok...? Lazy. Glad the magical search engine came into play last night too. The more I think about this the more I can understand how Doc Naysay works hisself into a lather over stupid crap.

While I agree with your point that the show isn't realistic anymore, I still like it for guilty pleasure reasons. I also agree that the last few episodes went down hill when Gellar's body had been found. At the same time, I'm too excited to find out what happens next season to be upset with the ending. I just hope it's not a cop out. I want a full on Bay Harbor Butcher confession. Not just a "I was forced to do it" type thing. And they better start the first episode exactly where they ended this season. With the two of them looking at each other. Not 2 weeks down the road when both of them have moved on.

Did you really think they were going to have DDK kill Harrison? I think that's a little too over the line along with having already killed Rita would be a poor choice. You knew Dexter wasn't going to die either considering they renewed the show for two more years. Have to imagine that one was going to happen. I think expecting more from how Dexter is written is expecting too much.

You could also make the argument, if you'd like to nitpick, that Deb would have recognized the stuff on the roof that Travis took from Dexter's place for his ceremony on top of the roof. Either or I think this show has had worse season finale's compared to last nights. I thought it also moved pretty quickly, even though of course it was very convenient that Dexter entered the house where his demonic face was on the wall before Matsuka or Batista.

They also left open the story line of how the Ice Truck Killer's hand got into Dexter's house. They'll have to find a way to explain that one out.

No lie...that was another thing. I was SO dumbstruck by how inconceivable the psychiatrist's behavior was. Seriously, completely inappropriate.

And as far as expecting Dexter/his son/Deb/whoever to die...well, that's just it isn't it. These situations no longer have any peril because they keep happening only to have some plot contrivance write them out of that corner. Yes, they killed Rita...still, it seems like someone is constantly about to die only to have Dexter and the magical search engine save the day.

And Nasti, unless they come into the new season with Deb pulling her gun and having a 'what's in the box' moment before either putting a bullet in/or arresting Dexter then I will shout horse pucky from the highest rooftops, which are apparently on Miami's solar building.
