You guys might want to read that sentence again. They're not saying he was a member of Monty Python, but rather an equivalent influence. That assertion is very true, and the Pythons all frequently mention how much inspiration they received from The Goon Show--which was primarily written by Milligan and Sykes--while they were growing up. However, in the 60s and 70s, Sykes became better known as a more mainstream comedy performer than writer, which became a bigger part of his legacy. Either way, it's a great loss.Along with Milligan and the Monty Python team, Sykes was credited with bringing a more off-the-wall slant to mainstream British comedy.
Yes, but he wasn't a Python member, which is what the OP said.
