Face to Face covering That's Entertainment = Blasphemy

I use to wear Merc (slacks), Lonsdale, FP's, wingtip shoes & monkey boots. Never got into the whole Dr.M's or Creepers. My sister was really cool back then (still is) & bought a lot of that stuff for me. I still have my black bomber jacket. It fits my wife now. I have a blue bomber now.

I still wear Merc suits. I have 3. Still wearing the wingtips (not the cheesy ones). Now I have the FP briefcase. Still mod at heart!

haha, ya well the jam were a bit before my time and no one else i knew really got me into them so i didn't think i'd be the right one to pick from their catalog of songs. face to face are one of my favorite bands from when i first got into punk in the late 90s.

the dr. m's are mostly oi/skins stuff. i just had to laugh at that pic when a friend posted a pictorial comparison between oi vs. crust punks and the oi punk was wearing a FP shirt. i have a bomber jacket, too, that's from the l.a.m.b. line.
it's the one she's wearing here:

those are nice looking suits. it definitely helps to have a cool older sibling. when my brother was around, he listened to the same music as me. so impressionable...

Face to Face used to play a lot at the Claremont Colleges. This was before they got really popular & were a 3 piece. Their songs were simple but catchy. I still have their 1st cd on Dr. Strange Records.

One of my favorite shows was when F2F & Jawbreaker played Scripps College. The Motley if I remember correctly. They had to shut it down because there was no A/C & the fire alarms kept going off due to body heat.

About Dr. M's...I graduated hs in '88. Back then the people who wore doc's were punkers, goths, mods & skins. I remember 80's disco (expose, lisa lisa, chaka kahn, etc) was huge back then. The disco biscuits from hs started listening to Morrissey, Social D & The Cure a couple of years after they graduated. I almost forgot abut the ASB poseurs as well. All of sudden Doc's were "in fashion". Lame. The same people that used to make fun of us, were now wearing Dr. M's.

The Jam were before my time as well. Never saw them play. I happened to catch the video for "Town Called Malice" when I was 13 & I was hooked. Paul Weller was the coolest dude ever. I hate TSC, however. Especially that untalented douche bag.

In the summer of '85, my best friend at the time, had hardcore bands play in his backyard. Those bands were Uniform Choice & Doggy Style. In the middle of my jr year the hardcore scene took a hold of me & didn't let go until the summer '92.

Sorry for the long story. But yeah, Merc suits are sharp. I'll try to find pics from my past & post them.

their first CD, as in "don't turn away"? damn, that's my favorite album by them. i even quoted the lyrics to "do you care?" in an email to my husband in a lovers' spat way back in our first year of dating. i don't think there's a single other person i know who has that CD. they all have "big choice" thanks to "disconnected".

no worries about the story, i'm always interested in what got people into various scenes like ska, mod, the various offshoots of hardcore, punk, etc.

and yes, post pics, i'm also a style fiend so i like looking at nice clothes.

i know nothing about leather jackets. i generally do not like the smell. or maybe it was just the suede jacket my mother-in-law bought for me once. it smelled like a dead animal.

mr. box will appreciate your consideration. he doesn't come here as much lately though. it's hard to lurk message boards when you find yourself billing from 4:30am to 6pm in the office...

Women with their issues & insecurities. Did you need one of these.

I'm Not Afraid, Do You Care, 1000x & Pastel are my favs on that one.

Here's an old pic from 1995 with my old band mates in Santa Rosa. I think you can figure which one is me. I'll try to find more.

i have a REAL 1960's green parka (and it's f***ing thrashed!), an at one time VERY rare and hard to find silver bomber jacket, a number of FP's, and cordovan wingtips. my suits are a little on the designer end... they're tailored well and are usually gussed up with a Ben Sherman tie.

my lovely wife DID however get me a pair oxblood Doc's for Christmas!

and i have NEVER been a mod... LOL.

you do have nice suits. the mister and i actually have to go suit shopping this weekend. he doesn't get fancy ones though because #1, he doesn't take good care of his stuff and #2, he works in a conservative office where they "notice" your nice things and not necessarily in a good way.
