yeahhhhhh....they look a little...bizarre?
The prosthetics they made for Gimli at least looked realistic. Not sure how I feel about this.

Kinda silly. Maybe like peeps dressing up to go to a Renaissance fair? ;)
I don't think this will happen but could there be any bigger disappointment than if these movies suck? Right up there with Star Wars. Peter Jackson has a lot to live up to.
So some of the dwarves look a little funky? I'm not worried either. After all, there's like 13 of them with very little to differentiate them in the book that I can remember. Bombur was fat, Thorin wore blue and Balin wore red. There really wasn't all that much to them after that. Some were good with fire and whatnot but that's about it.
I have faith that the Hobbit will be amazing!
I am pretty sure that when everything is said and done the film will look okay.
Jackson is probably trying to give the Hobbit movies a different look from the LOTR films since the Hobbit does have a lighter tone than LOTR, which obviously has more of a post apocalyptic feel. And yeah, I don't want to see the Hobbit trying to basically copy LOTR, but rather trying to do something different as the source material dictates.
I am actually learning to love the new look. I grew up on that Rankin Bass Hobbit, so if it's a little 'stylized' I am ok with that. Actually when you think about it, LOTR was mostly populated by humans/elves and when the Hobbits or Dwarves were on screen with them, it looked...odd. I think once we all see the movie it will be more in context. Also these pics are really brightly lit, I think in the movie some of the glaring flaws will be hidden a bit better. Relax.
The costumes are brilliant, btw.
