The hobbit

I wasn't very enthusiastic about them turning the book into two movies. I HATE the idea of 3. This is the shortest book of all the Hobbit/LOTR books and it's just a cash grab at this point. The biggest flaw in Jackson's King Kong was that he tried to turn a classic into a longer than needed movie and we ended up with way too much cartoon action sequences. I can't stand the thought of having to sit through more Treebeard-type scenes.

That's pretty much the way I feel too. At some point, too much is too much. Edit yourself mr. Nolannnnnneeeeerrrrrrrr I mean Mr. Jackson.

Unless the whole third movie is the Smaug stuff, I agree.

I was on the fence with two movies, not liking the choice to turn this into three movies.

At least Nolan took a 400 page script and turned it into one movie.

Jackson is taking a less than 400 page book and turning it into 3 movies.

More movies, more original Howard Shore music - sounds good to me

I'm all for it as long as they have an interesting story to tell. If they're just padding the two movies out to get a third I'll be disappointed. As long as they make an effort to respect the world Tolkien created I'm all for more movies, even if they have to make some of the stuff up themselves. Purists will obviously disagree... but good fantasy movies are few and far between.

Yeah, it will be interesting how PJ splits up all the big action sequences. You have the battle for Dol Guldur, Smaug, and the Battle of Five Armies. How do you divide it all up? Dol Guldur happened a few months before the other two, but the Smaug stuff and the Five Armies occurred within days of each other.

This. The whole padding thing. I mean LOTR which I think is so much more EPIC gets only 3 films, but so does The Hobbit, which is good, but no where are awesome as LOTR (IMO) also gets the same amount of films? Just doesn't seem quite right, but still it could work. Jackson is the filmmaker not me. ;)

I'm telling you guys, there's going to be a LOT of unnecessary action sequences in this trilogy. Again, think King Kong. An hour added to the original films run time and all we got for it was the same characters running away from the same monsters over and over and over again.

Another thing I don't get, haven't they already filmed these movies? Are they just going to turn the deleted scenes into it's own movie?
