Because everyone is more tolerant when it comes to discussing movies. Music is more incendiary...it is like politics/religion around here. And music is also more subjective. If I don't like something musically, it's more abstract, I cannot present an argument based on 'I don't like the way it sounds'. Movies, have actual details that can be discussed. So yeah, in my opinion there is a difference. I try not to criticize movies that 'I don't get' unless I have really strong opinions. You won't see me discussing too many dramas, because that isn't what I like. If I critique a movie, it's usually because I wanted to like it and was let down. I try not to make blanket statements like, oh that sucks.
I wasn't singling you out btw, and I meant no offense...I just felt that it was too easy to pick on this and felt I needed to state my case. Like I said, I usually stay out of music discussions, and probably should have this time too.
