Agreed. At least I've heard of half of the bands for this show. A lot of the main draws at Coachella lately I have honestly never heard of. To be fair back when these bands were popular I was still listening to fm radio. Nowadays my exposure to new music of any kind is practically nil and I like to keep it that way.

But yeah like most everybody else I did get a chuckle out of this line up when I saw this thread last night. I'm always amazed when I see people talking about how much they still like bands like Korn and Disturbed who I thought fell off the face of the earth before the turn of the century.

Asking Alexandria isn't too talented, but I enjoy their music.

But really, talk about a douchebag fest...

It's just not 'your' kind of music, which I don't relate to. Different strokes people.

That being said, I no longer wear shorts down to my ankles or sport a wallet chain, so I will be missing this.
lol at coachella even being mentioned in this thread...

    Korn will forever remain awesome.

Awesome doesn't simply go out of style.

Seriously, those guys put on a hell of a show. I would love to see them again.

And I see nothing wrong with a little music nestalgia now and then.

Korn is okay. When they came out, they sounded like something different, and then Limp Bizkit and all these other bands started to emulate the sound and it got really old really fast.

I don't have a problem with nostalgia it's just that I was not really a fan of these bands to begin with.

So yeah, in my opinion there is a difference. I try not to criticize movies that 'I don't get' unless I have really strong opinions. You won't see me discussing too many dramas, because that isn't what I like. If I critique a movie, it's usually because I wanted to like it and was let down. I try not to make blanket statements like, oh that sucks.

I wasn't singling you out btw, and I meant no offense...I just felt that it was too easy to pick on this and felt I needed to state my case. Like I said, I usually stay out of music discussions, and probably should have this time too.

i love you, big boy, but to intimate that music debate has to be made almost entirely in abstract for lack of detailed arguing points is just not true.

what you and adgy can do with movies, i can do with music... so can several of the musicians on this board.

Mebbe so...but if a form of music does not please your ear can you be unbiased arguing the merits of the musicianship? And if yes...why? If I don't like a movie I am watching, yet it's well acted or directed...or whatever, I can hang in and appreciate that. But music...maybe I am not sophisticated, but if it's not pleasing to my ear I could give a rats ass if the guitar player is amazing or not. Best example...RUSH is my kryptonite. That **** comes on and I am diving for the radio dial...yet, I know, they are amazing musicians. Couldn't give a rats ass.

i think Rush are amazing... but i can't stand them, really. so i know what you're saying.

the same can be said for film as well, no matter how amazing the film maker is, someone can argue its (whatever film's) merits, and if it doesn't jive with me, it doesn't. i've pretty much stayed away from the Kubrick thread for that very reason, you know?
