Up-and-coming French actress Bérénice Marlohe is said to have been cast in Sam Mendes upcoming 23rd Bond picture. There’s no information on her role, as yet, but here’s a picture to help you guess:



If the film is indeed based upon Carte Blanche, then Marlohe could be playing international aid worker Felicity Willing, South African policewoman Bheka Jordaan, or Ophelia “Philly” Maidenstone a member of MI6.

Out of those Jordaan would seem the most obvious… though, frankly, you could also read the casting of Marlohe as an indicator that Carte Blanche isn’t the source.

‘Bond 23′ May Be Called ‘Skyfall’

While this is by no means confirmed, /Film has it that Sony “has registered URLs such as skyfall-themovie.net, jamesbond-skyfall.com, and others that lend credence to the idea that Skyfall will be used,” and, again, let’s just all thank God it’s not Skyfum of Quantfall or Quantsky of Fallace or whatever the hell. Seriously, that title was just ridiculous.

The Sam Mendes-directed film is set for a November 9, 2012 release, meaning we’ll have a whole year to debate whether or not this is the actual name for the film, and then debate whether or not it’s any good.

Shu Qi Likely to be the Next Bond Girl

Chinese eminent actress Shu Qi is likely to join the 007 film series, playing the role as the new Bond Girl, according to a report from sina.com.cn.

Reportedly, the 23th movie of 007 series is due to start filming. According to the plots of the film, a Chinese actress is needed to take the role of Bond Girl who is not only sexy and intelligent, but also rebellious and dangerous.

In a secret selection process carried out by the film company on the mainland, four heavyweights, Shu Qi, Tang Wei, Li Bingbing and Fan Bingbing, are included on the list of finalists.

Shu Qi admitted that she has been contacted by the production company involved with the new James Bond movie. "It's true that the production company behind the film has got in touch with me through the film company. However, since the script and scheduling have not yet been decided, the decision is still up in the air".

Tang Wei, the next "Bond" girl

"She beats top contenders like Shu Qi, Josie Ho, Fan Bingbing and Li Bingbing partially because of her English language skills," a source was quoted as saying.

But what could possibly seal the deal for Tang Wei is that her management company, An Le Movie Company, is one of the key investors in the yet to be titled "Bond 23".

"Her boss, Jiang Zhe Chiang will definitely push her for the role," adds the insider.

I think Tang Wei would be a good choice.

News is about to start pouring out from Mendes’ Bond film, as filming begins next week and November will bring a press conference with more details. One assumes a confirmation of the rumored Skyfall title will come then, unless they have an entirely different moniker to announce

Also, it is simply a remake of "Thunderball", it doesn't count as part of the official series. Neither does the original "Casino Royale" with Woody Allen, Peter Sellars, et al.

As to whomever said that Bond movies weren't supposed to be action films, - beg to differ. The first couple films are VERY light on "gadgets" - with a few appearing in FRWL and virtually nothing appearing in Dr. No. The great thing about Bond films is that virtually all of them have something different to offer. IMHO Craig is actually the BEST Bond that they could come up with for the 21st Century, and CR and QOS are better than ANYTHING done after FYEO (the last really GOOD Bond Movie before Craig). Yes that discounts the Dalton films (easy to do) and the Brosnan films (harder to do, but I never bought Brosnan as Bond).

Really looking forward to 23. And I'm REALLY hoping that Craig stays on board for a few more.

They start filming today.

The plot of Skyfall is not connected to the last two films and Quantum are not involved. So we can forget all that jibber jabber about a trilogy we were slathered with on the way into Solace.

They’re keeping the same production crew, effects and stunt teams as the last film.

Really happy about that last one.
