Holy 007! THIS GUY could be the next James Bond | Blastr
Interesting. I am on record as NOT being a fan of color/gender retrofitting established characters. But this one I might be able to turn a blind eye to. I am not a Bond fan for the most part and I certainly am not a fan of Daniel Craig so that may have something to do with it. I know there are a LOT of Bond-ies on board...how big of an issue would this be? You can't argue that the guy doesn't have the chops necessary...it's ok to be against it in principle...it doesn't necessarily make you racist. Anyone have any thoughts.
Wouldn't bother me a bit, but I love Idris Elba and I don't give a **** that Bond drinks beer nowadays instead of a martini.
As long as the story/movie is good, I'm in.
I'd like to see Craig do a few more. I wish he'd have enough "life" left to do 5, but these movies take so much to make, I don't know how realistic that is. To me, he's the best Bond after Connery, yet I also find it hard to compare the 2 as their interpretations of the character are so day and night. That being said, if it's the right actor, I wouldn't mind the race overhaul to the character. Idris Elba could be that guy, FOR SURE. But the list of other guys it could be is very, very, very short. And I ****ing love the Idris so much that I'd watch anything he's in regardless; he's so goddamn brilliant. He's got all the cool, badassness and sophisticated qualities you want in a Bond. AND he's ****ing sexy as ****. So, there's that.
When MGM has its financial house in order, which happens every so often, a Bond movie can come out every two years. Craig should be able to do several more and should.
If Craig were to step down soon, I'd like to give non-British actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldeau, AKA Jamie Lannister, a screen test, although that would be too blondes in a row.
It will probably be a while before we need a new one, so picking someone now is likely futile. It could be Brick from The Middle for all we now. Shaken, not stirred... stirred.
Review: Sam Mendes' 007 Film 'Skyfall' Sees James Bond Back To His Best | The Playlist
But Mendes gets a lot more right than he gets wrong, and in the process has found a confident new identity for the franchise -- not afraid of its past, but not chasing its competitors or being scared of the future either. It might take another viewing of each to see if it exceeds "Casino Royale" as the best since the Sean Connery days, but at the very least, it makes clear that after the disappointment of "Quantum of Solace" that Bond is back, and he's not going anywhere. Next Two Bond Films To Comprise Two Movie Arc, Both Written By John Logan | Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors
Christopher Nolan, obviouslyDeadline have discovered that Logan pitched a two movie arc to Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson during the production of Skyfall and is already at work drawing up the screenplays.
Conceivably, the two films could be shot back to back, and that might make a lot of sense. That plan may also have played into Daniel Craig’s decision to sign up for two more films in recent months. Which director would be up to this mammoth task, however?![]()
