HOGWASH!!!!
The musical number ALONE makes Ladies Man a perfectly worthwhile film.
NEW RULE!!!!!!!!
Anybody who criticizes a comedy in this thread must suggest a "run of the mill" comedy that they like.
No fair pitting The Ladies Man or MacGruber against something like Ghostbusters or Bananas (and if ANYBODY says anything bad about BANANAS........ hooooooo..... ). You don't think Ladies Man has a good bakers dozens worth of chortles in it.... then what does???
Seriously. Anybody who doesn't like Bananas doesn't like laughing.
There's a movie called "Bananas?"
"Only a numbskull thinks he knows things about things he knows nothing about."
"It's understanding that makes it possible for people like us to tolerate a person like yourself."
Defending Bananas is too easy.
I have been left to defend Small Time Crooks. :O
Amazed that Doc liked Ladies Man. Wait. No, actually I am pleasantly surprised that he did. Look, thanks for the kind words Lag...but I found Ladies Man, in contrast to MacGruber, to be a SNL skit that they actually went out of their way to really flesh out. It has great, well, more than cameos, from some really good folks. And yes Doc...the musical number really does elevate the material to new levels of surreal ludicrousness. I love that movie. It is comfort food fo me, much like Coneheads is. Coneheads is really a sweet family movie disguised as a cameo-fest and no matter how many times I see it, the end fade out always tugs at my emotions. But I think your comment speaks volumes. If you are not a fan of the skit that an SNL movie is based on...stretching it to 90 minutes ain't gonna make it easier to digest. I fear a Gilly movie. and my enjoyment of MacGruber was hampered by the fact that I haven't enjoyed SNL for decades. Now if they ever made a GOAT-BOY movie!!!!!
And Doc, if it makes you feel right...I am not a Woody Allen fan. Not my tribe, not for me. Even I liked Bananas.
One of the most absurd and underated characters in the history of SNL. Sorry, it's fact. Deal with it.
