Thread: The Jerseydevil Film Appreciation Game

So I had this thought today......


Instead of asking people to vote and come to some kind of agreement on what movie to fight about.... someone should just pick one and force everybody to obey their command.

And so I present to you The Jerseydevil Film Appreciation Game.

Here's how it's played.

Someone (in this case me) chooses a movie (in this case MacGruber) for someone else (in this case jerseydevil) to watch.

Once the person (in this case jerseydevil) watches the film (in this case MacGruber) that someone (in this case me) told them to watch, they come back here and give us their thoughts on the film. Others can feel free to watch or not watch but once the "Film Review" of the movie in question (remember... in this case MacGruber) is given it's game on for fighting about stuff we disagree on. When the film reviewer (in this case jerseydevil) decides he or she has had enough... it's their turn to make someone else watch a movie and the cycle of judgment and criticism begins anew.

So....

jerseydevil....

go watch MacGruber. You have 5 days.



Also.... who else wants to play (make themselves eligible to be assigned a movie by jerseydevil)?

I like the idea, but what are you going to do if I assign you some obscure Asian movie you can't get ahold of?

Or if someone assigns a movie that would require something other than what's on my DVR right now?

First of all... of course you like the idea. It's a ****ing kick ass idea.

Second of all... get the **** out of here with your "what ifs" and "what have yous". Don't be a dick and pick movies like that.

Ok...as the Solomon type in this here place how's this for a tweak to a good idea...first off, it should be a movie relatively easy to access, so yeah Adgy, obscure Criterions and pinky films are off the table. Secondly, if, and only if, access is tricky, the viewee has the right to 'pass' and ask for a second option. Now, this is going to require complete honesty and real boy scout morals. See, there is NO excuse I could have to not watch MacGruber. If it isn't available on my on demand I should easily be able to red box it. I don't netflix, but I am sure the majority of folks do...suffice as to say, if it's mainstream enough 'you shall not pass'. We may even be able to work in some sort of 3rd party I call BS penalty if it is deemed that the victim did not make the required effort.

And, yes Doc. In theory it's a great idea. Even if participation is weak it will be easy to note the individuals who do not play well with others(and strike them from the game). I am honored that you named it after me and also honored that you chose me for the first victim. I'm not so keen on having to watch whatsernames horseface for 90 minutes...but, so be it! Challenge accepted sir.

I like it. The game, not the first selection...that movie blows!

Doc...everytime someone weighs in, like Blueline just did(I assume you want to play Bl), you should edit your original post to show a running list of eligible players. Just an idea so that folks can access the potential victims.

Also, what happens if the victim has already seen said movie. Do we just roll up our sleeves and start breaking it down?

Yes, I'm in.

I think if already seen, the victim should say so and allow the "gifter" a chance to call out another movie...only drawback is that could go on forever in some cases, so maybe just hit the review right away?
