I always said that Ken Russell must've been crazy or on drugs or both.
His movies were weird and it didn't help that I saw some of them when I was young and impressionable. They certainly made an impact on me.
RIP

Hopefully this will prompt an actual uncut release of 'The Devils' Like Touching the Dead: Ken Russell's 'The Devils' (1971) < PopMatters which I am dying to see. You know, wherever they are Oliver Reed had the drinks waiting at the bar. Gonna have to put on Tommy now.

Ken Russell is one of those directors whose movies I've always wanted to see, but for whatever reason never got a chance to.
Hopefully, his passing will get some of his more weird, obscure **** a proper release so I might fix that.

Got what appears to be a rather dodgy boot of the special uncut restored edition of THE DEVILS for about $8. I have to watch it but it is supposed to be all inclusive including the 'Rape of Christ' scene. It has a lot of special features on it, so hopefully it turns out to be a better copy than I think it might be, I'll let you know.

Too bad The Devils isn't readily available. It could've been our movie of the month.
