Caught In Bruges today and I thought it was fantastic. Funny spots, serious spots, and some action too. Warning: there are 3 (4?) extremely graphic scenes in this one. It has shuffled onto my very early Top 10 2008 list with Cloverfield.

Just saw a couple of excellent films

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Daniel Day-Lewis gave an absolutely brilliant performance. At times he was terrifying, other times he made you feel for his character. Lewis should win the Oscar.

Wow - Tommy Lee Jones with another brilliant performance. I loved him in No Country for Old Men, and he was great in this film as well. The story was very powerful and tragic - really struck a chord with me.

    I highly recommend both films.

Wow - I can't remember the last time I was so taken by a film. Enormously powerful and gripping. Just a little warning - it's an extremely raw film, and some of the scenes are very unsettling and disturbing, and it's definitely not for everyone. But if you can handle it, this is one hell of a gem of a movie.

Concur. I've never been much of a Gregg Araki fan (although I want to re-watch his older stuff again), but I really liked this movie.

Wanted to see what teh fuss was about:

Pretty good acting, and it kept our interest throughout--but flawed and certainly not a great movie.

I really need to catch up here and get some better stuff in my queue....

Backwoods, The (2007) | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

In the 'offthebeatenpath' category...first of all the link to the review above is pretty spot on...and sadly, so far this dvd is only available as an indonesian import(cheap though)on e-bay(under 15 bones) so all you all-region dvd fans who are looking to add to your collection could do much worse...

I am a sucker for any movie w/ Gary Oldman and even though he is pretty restrained in this...still fun to watch. Sort-of an ambiguous ending...that's my only real complaint...but the un-ease throughout is pretty good. It's basically the kinda flick you feel like you need a shower after watching.

Whoa! I had no idea that had been released on DVD anywhere yet! Thanks for the heads up, bro!
