I hate coming out on the wrong side little sister...but no. Hot Fuzz is brilliant. But Shaun...c'mon...it was the logical progession from SPACED (and if you have not watched that, then you should not even be reading this). Simon Pegg/Nick Frostas slackers...just cannot be beat. With Zombies...**** all of you who say Fuzz is better, sure, it's splitting hairs...but Shaun is magical...and without Shaun...there is no Hot Fuzz. I love both movies, but show some freaking respect!
It's a toss up. There are things I like better about each.
The same could be said about Reservoir Dogs and it's easy to find another QT flick since then that IS a better movie.
Generally speaking, I find Hot Fuzz more entertaining than Shaun. Specifically, in a genre-to-genre, in their intentional tribute/homage state, Hot Fuzz is better at it.
They're right next to each other on the shelf and when I go for Shaun, I've grabbed HF instead. That's happened the last few times. First frame to last, the writing is much better in HF.
That's how I feel about it. I'm not going to try and convince you otherwise, so don't bother trying with me.![]()
Like I said SPLITING HAIRS., But you kinda make my point, yes Hot Fuzz is a better flick...but if you chart the progression, Shaun will always be the benchmark...SPACED...SHAUN...HOT FUZZ it's like when that tadpole first forced hisself to grow legs and walk upright...
much love to Kq for another in a line of the greatest x-mas presents!!!!
Hot Fuzz was more ambitious than Shaun of the Dead, funnier than Shaun of the Dead and just completely better in all ways than Shaun of the Dead.*
The only people who disagree are people who are in love with certain genres so much so that they can't see past their own bias.
DRAG ME TO HELL IS COMPLETELY OVER RATED!!!
*I admit... it's a thin margin and Shaun of the Dead is great.
