    Haven't seen Megazone or Macross in a really really long time. I actually used to watch Gundam Wing. Seemed more political and than actiony.
    those i listed have been among my favorites over the years, and stuff i've found to be a great jumping off point for developing a well rounded anime palate.

    it also helps to get your brain adjusted to some of the more disjointed storytelling (that and reading Murakami WILL help tremendously) that Akira perfectly realized and that piece of s*** - Ghost in the Shell magnificently (though pretty f***ing beautifully) butchered... all the Steampunk stuff that came after "Shell," even stuff like the animated Clone Wars series excel in this style and whip GitS's ass 9-ways to Sunday.

    Be-bop was fantastic!

    haven't seent it... wasn't sure if i wanted to... but Atom Heart has a track in it, i think, so...

    darbs, no, the Urotsukidōji i want you to see was not a series... here it's called Legend of the Overfiend.

    and those who HAVE seen it know why i want you to.

    oh and i highly suggest everyone see Gunm before James Cameron thrashes the live action version of it.

    Claire Danes plays autistic professor, Temple Grandin. I really liked Danes performance in this.

    Ugh. Yuck. Why do you keep on watching crap anime? I tried watching it and those it was crap. What was the point of doing in again anyway, and in CGI. Everything looked geigh...the movement of the characters and stuff looked retarded.

    Spirited Away is a little on the weirder side Darbs, you should try Howl's Moving Castle. That's actually based off a story Diana Wynn Jones wrote. It's probably got the best dubbing track (if you actually like listening to it in English). Anyway, that's a good one, the story isn't all crazy weird. BTW, the English dubbing for Spirited Away it probably THE WORST dub out of all anime.

    i challenge that dub with either the American dub of Macross or Akira.

    First of all, I saw it because it was playing the Japanses Film Festival I had a press pass to. I spent the whole day there. It wasn't a bad film.

    Secondly, what's this "keep" bit? Have I seen some crap anime that I don't know about?

    Default A Town Called Panic

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3uG8LLuVPQ]YouTube - A Town Called Panic (English Version Trailer)[/ame]

    In an attempt to pry this thread away from the anime heavy discussion I watched this French stop-motion animated flick, and as much as i wanted to love it, I just didn't. Worth watching...well, because it's stop motion, but just not very compelling.

    Doc about Midnight Movies like El Topo, Pink Flamingos, The Harder they Come, and Eraserhead. I enjoyed it.
