Pretty fun movie if you enjoy Lovecraftian stuff. Would probably have made a better book than movie though.
I watched it the other night. Simplistic, but, it engaged me. I thought the actors were bringing a low to mediocre script as high as they possibly could, especially the detective.

Shamalamadingdong looks to be the Danielle Steele of films.
Enjoyed "Source Code", David Bowie's son, Duncan Jones', second directorial effort, last night on BlueRay.
Arguably more mainstream and accessible to the general audience than "Moon", it combines a "who dunnit" with inter-dimensional/time travel.
The whole cast gets a "job well done". Above average script, imo, with a satisfying ending.

Disappointing. Starts off great, cowboys, steampunk-y ww2 motorcycle riding street gangs, a samoan tribesman with a war-hammer, a Japanese popstar like villain who vamps it up to the nth degree...what's not to like. Add in a treasure map and a pretty good action sequence on a moving train and you would think it's a slam dunk. But then you get a minor course in Korean history, the red army, action sequences that have very little life despite some epic scale, plot devices that come and go...trying to do too much instead of just doing a simple concept REALLY well. File this under couldawoodashoulda.
I'm telling you, Julia Stiles has this weird thing going on with her teeth. Like, her chompers aren't hers and are too big for her mouth. She also has that, "extra chromosome" quality to her if you know what I mean. Also, she shouldn't be liked for the sheer fact that she made that piece of **** movie The Prince & Me.
Watched this last night while BoobyTrap was sleeping. For some reason that I can't really explain I don't like Julia Stiles at all, but I like Paddy Considine enough that I DVRed this as soon as I saw his name on it. After having watched it, really, being a Paddy Considine fan is the only thing that made this movie worthwhile for me. It's not a bad movie. It's an interesting story/idea. A man going through a divorce meets a woman in an eerie, creepy sort of way and they start a weird sort of relationship. And then the woman's ex boyfriend disappears and everyone thinks the man did it.
My main issue with the movie was people doing things that didn't make a whole lot of sense. You can kind of brush it off and just suspend your disbelief, but it happens more than once, and at pivotal points in the movie, making it a little harder to ignore. There are some good bits and pieces, though, and Paddy Considine's character is weird, but compelling and his performance really anchors the whole thing. A lesser actor and this movie is completely forgettable. As it is, though, I recommend it only if you're a fan of his. If not, then you may as well pass on it.
Which guy did you like BT? The BAD, right. He was pretty awesome. I kinda dug the WEIRD guy. The GOOD was a wet tissue. No personality whatsoever. The first 40 minutes or so were epic. I loved the overall look of the film design wise...but the opium den kids who came and went, the history of Korea's independance, the sprawling desert scene that went on...forever. And the whole oh, btw...Finger Chopper. Just unwound the longer it went. Sorry. Glad you liked it though. I really wanted to. And yeah, Julia Stiles has that weird webbed toes/extra digits thing going on, her bulbous forehead/round face/upturned mouth probably don't help.
