Otac na Sluzbenom Putu (When Father Was Away on Business)
I loved this movie. The pace might be a little slow for some, but I thought it was pitch perfect. From Wiki - "Set in post-World War II Yugoslavia during the Informbiro period, the film tells the story through the eyes of a young boy Malik. His father Meša (played by Miki Manojlović) has been suspected of working for Cominform and sent to a labour camp after a careless remark about a political newspaper cartoon." I don't know too many folks who can relate to living in a country where you REALLY have to watch what you say lest you end up being taken away by the Man. I think this film does a great job of showing what that is like and what effect it has on those left behind. Chilling. It's well worth the time invested. Highly recommended.
