Saw Prisoners this morning. Excellent modern day thriller. Very much inspired by Silence of the Lambs. I normally can't stand Hugh Jackman but he was ****ing tremendous. Jake Gyllenhaal was great. Melissa Leo was fantastic and Paul Dano was so perfectly Paul Dano. Gorgeously shot by Roger Deakins. B+/A- would definitely watch again.

Was it Jackass funny? Nope. The connective tissue was forced and stilted. But when it payed off...BELLY LAUGHS. The kid was a gamer, and Knoxville is just a loveable loon. I NEVER bought into the old age makeup(sorry...an 80 year old man NEEDS rheumy eyes...but I nitpick), stay for the post credits.

Watched this on a loop last night. Cheers to Fearnet for giving it the Christmas Story 24 hr treatment. I HATE commercials. This movie is soooooo flawless I watched the feed with the commercials. LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie. If you have not seen...you only have yourself to blame. Sorry Mr Carpenter, but it's the quintessential Halloween movie.

Ohm but seriously. And I don't know the name of that actress who plays that girl who keeps on getting drunk, lol, but she's hot! :D

Dunno, though, Fright Night is my go to Halloween movie these days. Roddy McDowall was awesome!

Powerful movie. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Fassbender were incredible. My one complaint was that Brad Pitt was in the film. You get lost in this somber story and then all of a sudden Brad Pitt shows up for 1 minute or two and takes you out of the film. Despite that, overall I give it a thumbs up.

That's EXACTLY how I felt about World War Z, but times that 1 minute by 123.

Was stoked to finally catch this on cable:

Well, it's not a instant classic, but I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. Looked great; sounded great; sated my existing man crush on Eric Bana, and created a new crush on Saoirse Ronan and the character of Hanna to the point where I immediately googled "Hanna 2" as the end credits barely started rolling. Other mentionables: I thought the ending was deliciously badass; when the antagonist brought in the "fascists" to join the hunt it may or may not have been an intentional Lebowski nod but I loved it; and last but not at all least... the kiss scene with Hanna and Sophie--while 90% innocent--was not surprisingly far more than 10% stimulating. But then I'm a slut for girl smooches. All in all highly recommended.

Why does everyone hate Brad Pitt?

Personally I have nothing against the guy and actually like him. Part of this may fall to the viewer, but for me he's too charismatically himself and his energy vortex draws too much attention, and, he's not a great enough actor to not be himself--at least not always. He's excellent in his sweet spot and can, no matter what, act crazy circles around Leo (who I think is terrible always). Fight Club, Snatch, Seven Monkeys, Ocean's Eleven, just feels so natural and that's the Brad I buy immediately. You cant blame him for getting older and wanting to shake that and go straight, but when it's too thoughtful and dramatic and normal he's often too big for his own good. That, or it just feels unnatural. Again, just my 2cents.

My sentiments exactly. I have nothing against Brad Pitt. He was just a bad fit for this particular movie. You get lost in the story and you can't get past that Brad Pitt is in the film.

If you haven't seen 12 Years a Slave. I highly recommend it.
