I've watched half of Primer. Thought it was good. Never got around to finishing it yet though. :) The first third of Upstream Color has some good ideas, but then it was like I was watching The Tree of Life for the last two-thirds. And I did not like The Tree of Life.
^ It also bugged me a bit that Carruth cast himself as the lead actor...
Watched Bounty Killer last night. Post-apocalypse meets Tarantino style killing campy B movie. Pretty good! Lots of LOL over-the-top violence, great cast. Decent story too. 3.5/5.
. . . . .
And then this:
Uhhh, wow. It's actually an engrossing, endearing, and really well made documentary, and no matter how big or small you ever thought you were, you'll come away feeling pretty damn confident. What Patrick apparently lacks in length and girth he makes up for in brass stones for putting himself out there to the world like that. You feel so bad for the guy that it's painful to watch at times. Also love Jonah Falcon towards the end, talking about "size doesn't matter and shouldn't define you", and lamenting how he's been used, abused and labeled a freak 'cuz of his record largeness---all as he's walking through town wearing tight stretchy white pants. I mean, flaunt it if ya got it I guess, but the thing strapped to his thigh looks like an arm-sized sock puppet with two heads and three broken backs. Ewwww.
I actually watched Hanna just this week, or maybe the week before. It was a good movie, about a girl (Hanna) who was a product of a weapons experiment (genes tampered to enhance combat abilities) and who was saved by a CIA agent (years ago) when the experiment program was closed and all specimens (children) disposed. Fast forward to present, she decided to face the head of the program who has been hunting her and Hanna's known father (ex-CIA agent). Guess who was the villainess who headed the program: Cate Blanchett.
It was refreshing for me to see Cate Blanchett in such a role. I've always been a fan of LOTR and she was a totally different character in Hanna. The concept of the movie was good of course. Like what one of the critics at Rotten Tomatoes said about the movie Hanna --- What's not to like in a film about a teenage girl who was a product of genetics experiment for combat purposes?
Anyways, I still have Oblivion and Elysium to watch next, then will scrounge the web for others. I hope they won't be a bore. Fewer and fewer films manage to impress me lately.
^ LOVED Hanna!
VUDU code for Gordie Howe Mr Hockey is gone.
Watched The Wolf of Wall Street and Anchorman 2 today. Really like the former, but the latter was just too absurd at times and all over the place. 5/5 for the Wolf and 3.5/5 for Anchorman 2.
The Driller Killer
I didn't think this movie was as good as its notoriety would suggest, but it was weird enough in the way that only a horror movie made in the '70's can be, which made it worth watching.
I want to watch MS. 45 now,
