Why was it set in the modern day? Everything about it feels like there is a retro vibe, like it is set in the early 80s at the latest. The music, the cars, the clothes - nothing seems remotely modern, yet Rockwell says the one guy threatened to quit in 2011. If it was post-2011, Carell's brat and her friends would be buried in their smartphones. Are there no cell towers on this island? It's like the movie was set in 1982 and someone forgot to change that line or some studio executive felt 6 fewer people would watch the movie if it wasn't set in 2013. At least they spare us the awkward framing scenes with the grown-up married main character as he flashes back to that special summer.
I felt the same way, but as a kid who spent time 'at the shore', there was always that stuck in time vibe there, from the locals to something as mundane as items in the grocery store. And yeah, despite it's questionable decisions/anachronisms, it's an immensly enjoyable movie.

Ok. So the Aussie Outback ='s Our Midwest. You don't want to take that side road/not have cell service. Best thing this flick has is Dewey Crowe from JUSTIFIED. Lot of fun(Dewey), and an outcome that was kinda cool if it weren't so obvious. Not enough blood, and tooooooooooooLoooooooong for me to really recommend. Serious mixed bag.

Possibly(or Possum-ly) the strangest movie I have ever had to force myself through. Art students making their first film, nice weirdness and great antique animation(shadowbow/paper cut out/stop motion) and a full sale by Pegg(always fun to watch) and credited as a producer so, clearly a passion project...but almost uncomfortable in it's one-man-show/unpleasant events calendar. I recommend for people who like a challenge

Just perfect. I especially loved Gerard Butler's UNLEASHED accent. Voice casting overall was magnificent. And I am so glad I bought a Toothless toy to go with the Dvd/blu. HAVE to go see part 2 this weekend. Oh yeah, also had my eyes leaking considerably.(such a moosh)

Other than 'if you have the opportunity YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS MOVIE' I ain't saying a goddamned thing about it, till we can all talk spoilers. But this movie may cause Adgy to spontaneously weep and jizz.

Still not sure if the 2hr 5 minute version is uncut. I heard the first submission was just over 2hrs 30. In my opinion, it could have even been longer and just as good. The flick moved like the train it took place on. The more I ruminate on it, the more convinced I am that I will be going to see it again at least one more time. Do you have linky to anyplace that sells a region free copy Adge, I can only find R2,R3 versions.

    There's a Taiwanese Blu-ray

YESASIA: Snowpiercer (2013) (Blu-ray) (Taiwan Version) Blu-ray - Chris Evans, Octavia Spencer, Deltamac (Taiwan) Co. Ltd (TW) - Korea Movies & Videos - Free Shipping

But it doesn't have english subs. Not sure if the entire movie is in english, but that would mean if there's any Korean bits, you won't get the subs.

If you don't need the subs, let me know and I'll see if I can find it cheaper at a different site. I'll order one for myself, too.

Hmm. I know there are a few moments that may get lost, but there is, conveniently, a translator box type thing that is used most of the time to translate what people are saying, so it won't be too much that you lose...maybe towards the end. Gonna hold off till I see it again and make the call then.

Ok. I was waiting to see it myself before ordering, as well.

Run time on that Blu shows 126 minutes, nearly the same?
