I know both have done despicable things, but that has no effect on their work.
The odd thing is that their respective personal histories have a way of adding weight to their films subject matter.

There really is no such thing as bad publicity for the entertainment industry.

Completely agree but I was trying to be very vague about specific details of the story....

I went in knowing nothing about it and I think it's a far better experience that way.

No. I watched both of those before I knew about what he'd done and I thought they were both fantastic, but... that's it for me. I absolutely acknowledge the man's talent, and if I went over to your house and you were watching one of his flicks, I wouldn't walk out of the room or anything, but I would definitely prefer not to see it and I won't give him any of my money.

    Same for Victor Salva.

What, for crimes committed against a ham sandwich? Funny how Owen Wilson has a hall pass(see what I did there) for trying to off hisself because Kate Hudson wouldn't return his calls. Does anyone even remember that? He did a good job recovering from that. Still, it's not the same as leaving your woman for her adopted daughter. Sorry Doc, but even if 'the heart wants what the heart wants', if you have ever been in a situation where you were with someone that had kids from a previous life, you might understand just how awful what Woody did was. They do Maury shows on **** like that.

Bijou is hotter than McKenzie. Paps sorta "settled" there.

    Um... no... for this...

John Phillips of Mamas and Papas Slept With Daughter Mackenzie Phillips, Says New Book - Crimesider - CBS News

I'm not suggesting that his relationship with Sun Yi was "ok" or "not ok".... I'm just not willing to ignore art that I genuinely enjoy and appreciate because the artist happens to be a gigantic douche.

So... do you actually know who this reviewer is and trust his opinion or did you just look and look until you found the one reviewer who DIDN'T like this movie?

EDIT : And on a completely whiny and overly dramatic note....

I find it in poor taste that you would even bother contributing links to negative reviews of a film you yourself have refused to see not based on any artistic merit but on your personal distaste for the filmmaker.
