pretty well written article about the close kinship between the rise of the rave scene (and eventually - "electronica") and the growth of the internet as a resource.

How The Internet Transformed The American Rave Scene : The Record : NPR

...The web had grown rapidly in the mid-'90s — it wasn't just the province of university students anymore — and raves started showing up on the mainstream's radar. The U.S. major labels began pushing "electronica" as music that could be consumed in album form by rock fans. It worked, sort of — Prodigy went to #1 with The Fat of the Land — and acts like The Chemical Brothers, Roni Size/Reprazent and Fatboy Slim did well...

    Uh oh.

Nick Oliveri: Queens of Stone Age Singer, Nick Oliveri, Arrested for Domestic Violence - latimes.com

The singer and bass player for the popular rock band "Queens of the Stone Age," Nick Oliveri, was arrested after a five hour standoff in Hollywood Tuesday night.

Police were called to the rocker's Hollywood home in the 900 block of Hobart Boulevard shortly after 5 o'clock after receiving a domestic violence call.

SWAT officers surrounded the home after learning that a female hostage was being held inside, according to LAPD Commander Andrew Smith. That hostage, identified as Oliveri's girlfriend, was released about 8:30 p.m. unharmed, Smith said.

Investigators say the couple had gotten into an argument Monday night, but Oliveri left the home before police arrived. He reportedly returned Tuedsay and the two got into an argument.

Oliveri was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on suspicion of domestic violence.
No mention of the fact that he's no longer with the band...

Video Interview: Blonde Redhead (The Scenestar)

I kind of regret not seeing them again this time around. The last album has really started to grow on me.

Brian E from the Velvet Underground to Burial | Music | The Guardian

The former Roxy Music synth twiddler's fingerprints are all over hits by U2, Coldplay and David Bowie, but he's most fascinated by musicians who 'don't completely understand their territory'
    Good read.

it's almost criminal how much i think like he does. i don't think i've ever related to any musician nearly as much.

the above part you quoted is a pretty terse nod toward what i was getting at on your FB page about Amon Tobin.
