RA News: Ben Frost and Daníel Bjarnason score Solaris
OH MY ****ING GOD YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ben Frost and Daníel Bjarnason have composed a new score to the classic sci-fi film Solaris, due for release in November.
Frost and Bjarnason's score was originally commissioned for last year's Unsound Festival in Poland. The two artists are a likely choice for this kind of project: Frost is the noisy experimental producer behind 2009's By the Throat, and Bjarnason is a classical composer who has worked with Sigur Ros. The duo improvised while watching the film to come up with the basis for their score, then made the final product using recordings of harps, piano and a string orchestra as source material. Solaris will come out on Bedroom Community, the label Frost runs with Valgeir Sigurðsson and Nico Muhly.
Cool video from the folks at Google for Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday.

PJ Harvey Wins the Mercury Prize
The first person to ever win it twice!PJ Harvey's Let England Shake took home the prestigious Barclaycard Mercury Prize today.
The Mercury Prize, which has handed out an award for the best British album of the year since 1992, is selected by a panel of music industry representatives. The panel has a reputation for selecting winners out of left-field, but PJ Harvey was no dark horse, having previously won in 2001 for Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea. This year, she beat out a group that included artists ranging from Adele to James Blake to Katy B to Elbow and Metronomy and more.
Suck it! Yeah! Woo! Owned!
