ha, I've heard of them but never heard the music 'til now. not bad, real catchy, apt comparison.
apparently, green day's new release is a trilogy? I doubt I'll be getting the vinyl for that. it's gonna be mucho dinero. I did hear that there are better songs than the latest "oh love" which hark back to older material... not quite kerplunk, but not in the same vein as 21st century breakdown.

New DCD album arrived yesterday, but I haven't had a chance to listen to it. Anyone hear it yet?
The sound that goes on and on... After 30 years in the wilderness, prog rock is back - News - Music - The Independent
Genesis, Yes and Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) will lead a line-up of "prog rock gods" who will attend the first Progressive Music Awards, to be held in the verdant surroundings of Kew Gardens, next month.
The awards, created by Prog magazine, one of the few expanding publications in a declining print music market, will celebrate the pioneers, innovators and present-day torchbearers of the once-derided scene. Gavin Esler, the Newsnight anchor, who has confessed to a deep love of the flute-powered titans Jethro Tull, will present the awards.
First Listen: Swans, 'The Seer' : NPR
I pre-ordered THE **** out of this and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival before listening.
I've been listening to "My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope To The Sky" and it's a difficult album. At first I thought it just sounded like an Angels of Light album, but started to think that it sounds like Soundtracks for the Blind, which is also complicated. And what I mean by complicated is that they are a challenge to make sense of.
Dunno. I preferred The Great Annihilator over Soundtracks for the Blind. And Children of God is my favorite Swans.
But, really, I do like all of Swans stuff, Gira certainly won't go gently into the night.
Really looking forward to what The Seer sounds like.
It took me a little while, but "My Father..." grew on me enough that I absolutely love it now. It's not the same level as The Great Annihilator, but it has the one thing that album is missing: long, loud tracks.
Very excited about the new disc. It's leaked online, but I'm waiting for my pre-ordered, autographed copy.![]()
