And the Swans remind me of Death in June, is that random?

Somebody at school once made comparisons between Cave and Swans, but aside from similar lyrical content, I didn't see the sound comparison, but I could be wrong.

“We’re pretty happy with just touring. There was talk, ‘Should we write new stuff?’ and we all looked at each other and said ‘Nahhh, **** it.’ We did work up one new little thing and that was really energizing.”

Very excited about the new disc. It's leaked online, but I'm waiting for my pre-ordered, autographed copy.
I listened to the leak and honestly i think they wayy over did things on this album, I loved "My Father.." and that took no time at all for me, but this one is just a whole other beast. Some of the songs are over 30 mins long and don't seem to go anywhere. This sucks cause i'm a big fan of other Swans material.

    Yes, but that's ok.

Damn, you go to school with people who like Nick Cave and Swans? That's awesome. I think there are some similarities in Gira's later stuff to Nick Cave. The song "Jim" from "My Father...." reminds me of Cave a bit.

    Well, that's disapponiting.

The Seer Returns: An Interview with Swans' Michael Gira < PopMatters

The new album also has a track [“A Piece of the Sky”] where Jarboe contributes some backing vocals and a sound collage. When Swans first reformed, you dismissed the idea of collaborating with her. What changed about that situation?

We’re still in contact and I like her a lot. She has a good voice, and I was constructing this sound environment and it needed a voice, so I asked her to sing a series of notes and it worked. I have nothing against her being involved in a tangential way, but the whole notion of Swans getting back together and playing the old songs, the Michael and Jarboe ones, feels repugnant to me. That’s a reunion experience, which I’m not interested in.
I was pretty surprised when I first heard Jarboe was on this. Pretty sure during the press for the last album, he said he hadn't even spoken to her in 10 years.

He did. Haha! I used to say that if I was ever elected for president, I would take a note from Clinton and Fleetwood Mac, and asked Swans (and Jarboe) to reunite and play "Trust Me" at the inaugural.
