    I thought A&S got started as part of The 5th Dimension.
    Either the NYT left out a gapping hole in their careers .... or I am mistaken.

    A&S wrote "California Soul" which the The 5th Dimension recorded but they were never members of the group. You're thinking of Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr.
