Nora Ephron -- the legendary Hollywood writer who penned the screenplays for "Sleepless in Seattle" and "When Harry Met Sally" -- died moments ago.

As we reported, Nora was gravely ill up until her death today -- reportedly suffering from cancer. She was 71.

Ephron scored 3 Academy Award nominations in her illustrious Hollywood career ... and was widely considered one of the most powerful women in the entertainment industry.

Among her most memorable films ... "Silkwood" ... "My Blue Heaven" ... "Michael" ... "You've Got Mail" ... and "Julie and Julia."

Ephron was married to (and famously divorced) Watergate scandal reporter Carl Bernstein ... before entering her 3rd (and final) marriage to screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi.

Know it's not one of her best...but I love My Blue Heaven.

I dunno Doc...it's a cute little Anti-Goodfellas. Moranis/Martin/Cusack have some nice chemistry. It's a blip. I really don't think any remake could be THAT much better. Oh yeah, and William Hickey was brilliant.

You've Got Mail is one of my favorite girlie movies.

well Nancy we know where you stand...

wow, i had no idea she was ill. i last saw her (on tv) promoting a book called "i feel bad about my neck" which reminded me of the complaints my mother-in-law has/had about aging. she looked well then, although it's a little over a few years since then, so this caught me by surprise. RIP.

I was never that big on her movies, but I liked her. She was funny.
