I've also been to Rave 18 in Los Angeles but nothing stood out, which is either good or bad. I've heard of one in Ontario and the ArcLight in Hollywood. Recommendations?
The Ontario one is pretty good. It's the only place I go for IMAX screenings (mostly because I live nearby) and I always enjoy it.

By the way, did I mention how much I loved this movie? Even ****ing BoobyTrap loved it. She wants to go shopping for toys from it. ****, I can't wait to see it in IMAX. Mother****ing elbow rocket!

Yeah...who hasn't wanted an elbow rocket to turbocharge their punch. That was a squee moment for sure.

My 2cents on IMAX...like the Rave faaaaaar better than Universal Citywalk or AMC Burbank.

Ontario is 15/70 capable on a full-size screen. I guess I should have included IE on my list of local real IMAX screens! At least it's listed as 15/70 on the link I supplied. Also, I might have to drive out there to check it out some time.

I'm going to start using an elbow rocket to get food and drink to my mouth faster.

Guillermo Del Toro Says No 'Pacific Rim' Director's Cut On DVD, But Reveals He Shot 3 Different Endings | The Playlist

"There was a line that I deleted from the movie that will come back if I do a second movie. Newt explained that the Kaiju are not carbon based organisms like humans, they are silicon based. The only part I left of his explanation is that they have a hive mentality, meaning that if you 'drift' with a Kaiju brain, you are drifting with every Kaiju alive," he told Bleeding Cool. "Depending on the duration of the drift the information might be complete or incomplete, but the Kaiju know everything the human drifts with them knows. That’s as much as I can tell you without spoiling the sequel. Well, that’s providing there is a sequel – if there isn’t one, I promise, I’ll spill the beans."
"This is my director’s cut. There will not be an extended cut right now, we’re not planning on it, but there will be deleted scenes and they were deleted for a reason," he said, adding that he'll be recording the commentary soon but that this DVD extras as a whole might be leaner, because the "DVD and Blu-ray market is shrinking so we can’t be as extravagant as we were with other discs in the past."
    C'mon, goddammit!

So, last night we went and saw it in IMAX 3D and after sleeping on it, I think I'm ready to say that this is by far the greatest use of both IMAX and 3D technology to date.

Looks like we're going to see it again that way on Saturday morning in Ontario if anyone else wants to get in on this.

Saw it IMAX 3D a few days ago. Been waiting for this one for a long time, and while it didn't exceed my high expectations, it definitely met them--especially with the IMAX 3D. I would definitely see it again, but I dunno if I want to spend 19 bucks a ticket again.

As for the movie's box office performance, I thought it would do MUCH better. Until recently, I was out of the country so I was a little out of touch with what kind of buzz it was getting, but it had a big panel at Comic-Con last year, didn't it? And I was pretty sure it had massive nerd appeal, etc.

I was surprised Jerseydevil was concerned with the money it would make, but now I see he was right. I understand it getting beaten by Despicable Me 2, but losing the #2 spot to Grown-Ups 2? Wow.

Wouldn't worry too much. The US box office wasn't what they were concerned with. It is doing great internationally and it actually did better stateside than most were predicting. Have to confirm, but I think the sequel is still on track.
