I hear you. It's just that the trailers so far have done nothing for me, beyond showing off the cast and the mermaids. I don't find any of the lines in the commercial particularly amusing and what bits of the story they show don't really move me either way, although it being based on a Tim Powers book, does.

I still plan to see it and expect to enjoy it, just not as much as I would like to.

That's because the movies haven't been any good since the first one.

Reading a lot of hate...AintItCoolNews has a LOT of reviews, they are all the same...while they didn't think the movie succeeded they though the critics were overly cruel. Look, these flicks have been getting the rough end of the toilet paper since day one...Kq got us good seats in the LaLive extra special premiere theater for tomorrow(yeah I had no idea either), expect a review of the movie and the extraspecialshiny theater after we go tomorrow...barring the rapture of course.

just got home from seeing this. personally, i thought it was great. it's everything you want in a pirates of the caribbean movie. it's not entirely believable or realistic, but that's what i like about the POTC films.

ian mcshane as blackbeard is awesome as hell. geoffrey rush is amazing as always. the religious dude is a strange character to have, but he's very pretty, even though he's a bible thumper.

overall, i really enjoyed it. the first film is still the best, but OST is just a really fun film to watch.

He and Richards (even in a brief role) would be the only draws for me.

Considering I only thought the first one was any good as well, I guess I'll pass on this one at the theater.

If you liked McShane in this movie, if you haven't seen him in Deadwood, you should.

I will go into more detail later...but **** the critics!!!!! This movie is a blast. It is able to stand proudly next to the other three. If you liked the other three, and I did...immensely, going as far as to say that it's the best trilogy, go see this one. People just want to hate. 2+ hours of pure fun. Best thing of all, Barbossa is NOT relegated to a cameo. He figures prominently. Go see this!
