Critic proof I tells ya...Critic Proof!!!!! I think the heights this series has acheived CONSIDERING it's based on a theme park ride is amazing. So Doc...by that argument Del Toro making a Haunted Mansion movie would be verboten in your world. Like Adgy always goes on about remakes(in the right hands...etc.), an idea that is creatively bankrupt can actually excel if the folks involved actually put effort into what they are making. And at the risk of repeating myself I think that the POTC movies show a lot of genuine care, at least in the forms of Sparrow/Barbossa. I think the creatively bankrupt idea applies more to turgid unecessary REMAKES anyway. Hell, a 2 sentence synopsis on a cocktail napkin can be spun into gold. It's a case by case deal Doc. That being said, it seems every weekend some Aniston/Heigl/Butler romantic comedy, or ZooKeeper(watch the trailer for this and see if fluid does not leak from your ears and nose) comes out. Bare bones reused stories, talking animals...whatever, just to have a great opening weekend before the word of how meh it is actually gets around. That's the stuff I rail against Doc.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES Becomes Highest Grossing Film Overseas in Disney History
Ha, Deal with it. Yo Ho Yo Ho More Pirates films for me!!!!Quote:
So far Pirates 4 has brought in $211 million in North America. That’s not bad for a movie that hasn’t even been out for a month yet. But according to THR, that’s nothing. So far On Stranger Tides has brought in an absolutely insane $695.9 million dollars overseas, bringing the box office total to a ridiculous $907.4 million. It’s officially the highest grossing film internationally in the history of Disney and now ranks fourth on the all time overseas box office charts behind only Avatar ($2 billion), Titanic ($1.2 billion), and The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King ($742 million). Apparently a big reason for the inflated grosses is that unlike in the US, 3D grosses have yet to see any sort of decline overseas. In countries like Russia, China, and Brazil the little plastic glasses are more popular than ever.
At this point, it’s inevitable that the grosses for On Stranger Tides (anyone figure out what that means yet?) will cross a billion dollars and it will become the biggest moneymaker of the series.
