I had to visit a lengthy FAQ page on IMDB to somewhat kinda sorta understand it.

    SPOILERS ***

See, that's what I don't get. I'd love a sequel but really? They're gonna make a whole movie about Noomi Rapace and the head of an android? They'll probably attach him to his body at some point, still that's two characters! I guess there could be some interactions between them and some protagonist Engineer that speaks English but... man I just don't know. Interesting info in that link though, explains a few things.

At the ending, the "progenitor" dies in the escape pod with the "original queen alien" busting out of his chest. In the original Alien, the "progenitor's" mummified corpse with it's chest burst was found in the "comand chair" of the space craft.
I remember the prop of that was on display when I went to the "midnight" show when the movie opened at the Egyption Theater in Hollywood. Bad plot hole they missed.

Also, why the **** would the 'Engineers' leave directions to their weapons moon on ancient pictographs? Did they really decide to be done with humans before they even left the planet? Or is it a function of "If these bastards ever achieve intergalactic flight, they must die?"

Key word there is ANCIENT not 2000 years old, much older. They really got sloppy, but it is a beautiful film to look at.

Penny Arcade had a pretty good Prometheus related comic today.

As explained in the comic, it does contain spoilers :

Penny Arcade - Ouroboros Or Whatever
Doug Fresh and DieAvsDie like this.

If you saw this movie and want some type of explanation or answers read this as food for thought: cavalorn: Prometheus Unbound: What The Movie Was Actually About

As for me I was lucky to see in IMAX 3D which was jaw dropping. I ****ing loved it! I'm all about origins of humans/earth and alternative history so this was right up my alley in so many ways. I had so many damned questions after the movie that couldn't really sleep afterwards and I can't wait to see it again this weekend.

I got into a big discussion with one of my co-workers about the film (he hated it obviously) and he brought up all the points about how it was lazy script writing, too many things not answered, characters motivations were hard to decipher, etc etc. And I get where they're coming from, but for me personally these issues meant nothing to what ideas Ridley Scott was trying to present. Did he use some shortcuts? Yeah, I can say that he did, but the overall piece and what he says about life, creation, and death are much bigger than what he chose to squeeze in a 2hr movie.

Lastly, I've learned a great lesson in tempering my expectations about movies I get excited about. I watch the trailer a maximum of 3 times and I read NOTHING about it until I see it for myself. That's not to say I don't appreciate all of the great posts by people here, it's just that I get to them afterwards.

As far as sequel is concerned, I'm too busy geeking out about this film and re-watching Alien and Aliens to care. Best movie I've seen this year hands down.
