    One of all-time best American authors, regardless of genre, IMHO. He was my introduction to Sci Fi. Sad to hear. RIP

    I can honestly say his writing had a very profound effect on me and my wife. For the last several years we had the chance to meet him and spend some time talking with him for our local bookstore was a favorite of his and they held a party for his birthday each year.

    R.I.P. Ray, thanks for the memories.
