Pretty much. I have been wanting to live in Mars ever since watching that scene.
Only by living absurdly is it possible to break out of this infinite absurdity.

Empire Big Screen ‘11 Review: ‘Fright Night’ Is Entertaining, But Eminently Disposable > The Playlist

We had a fairly good time with “Fright Night.” We laughed a bit, we jumped a bit, we were invested enough in the characters that we didn’t want them to die. So to a degree, all involved can be happy enough with the job that they’ve done. But we’ve rarely seen a more transient piece of entertainment—like the cinematic equivalent of popping candy, it fizzes for an instant, and then it’s gone. And we don’t know about you, but we like even our low-ambition horror-comedies to have at least one truly memorable scene, or even a line. Sometimes, just doing your job isn’t quite enough. [C]

Colin Farrell in 'Fright Night': A Remake You Can Sink Your Teeth Into | The Wrap Movies

So with this much going for it, why is “Fright Night” simply good and not great? The pacing has a lot to do with it, and strangely enough, it’s one of the problems from the original movie (written and directed by Tom Holland) that Noxon can’t seem to fix. In both versions, there’s the confirmation that Jerry is a vampire, and there’s the final confrontation — and in between, a big chunk of get-on-with-it-already. It’s the first movie’s biggest flaw, and it’s surprising that no one involved with the remake took a whack at it.

Still, if nothing else, “Fright Night” confirms what critics have always said — if Hollywood insists on creating so many remakes, leave the classics untouched and take another crack at the just-OK ones instead.

This movie may fall into the just-OK category itself, but that’s still lots better than most horror movies that come slinking into theaters in late August bearing a familiar title and little else of interest.

    FRIGHT NIGHT Review

But the true star of the movie is Farrell. Chris Sarandon gave a great performance as Jerry in the original, but his character was confined to a one-on-one battle with Charley to the point where it seemed like Jerry was more preoccupied with taunting his next door neighbor than doing vampire stuff. Since the remake has a bigger budget and can go far beyond the suburban streets that confined the original, the new Jerry treats Vegas like his own smorgasbord and he should. He really is the shark from Jaws if the shark could talk, walk on dry land, and was really, really handsome.
Getting solid marks pretty much everywhere I look...the consensus seems to be to see it in 2d because the 3d diminishes the movie.

Anyone see Fright Night yet? My sister and I went and saw it last night and both really loved it. I still haven't seen the original though, so I need to do that. But I thought Colin Farrell was awesome, and I pretty much love anything with David Tennant. It was really campy, funny, and surprisingly gory.
    adgy-san and jerseydevil like this.
