‘Point Break’ Remake Fast-Tracked; Will Be Set In The World Of Extreme Sports | Geeks of Doom

Oh man...I am on record as being a non-fan of remakes...but they just aren't getting this. Point Break was a movie that succeeded despite, or perhaps due to it's sillyness. You try to capture that while folding in X-games style sports and this becomes a farce...might as well add a chimpanzee and make it the latest MVP:Most Valuable Primate movie...

    wait, just read this...

The remake is set to be written by Kurt Wimmer, who wrote the screenplays for Street Kings, Law Abiding Citizen, Salt, and the Total Recall remake. He also wrote and directed Equilibrium and Ultraviolet.
still probably will suck, but hope springs eternal.

28 WEEKS LATER Director Upgrades From Zombies To Immortals | CHUD.com

It must have been exciting year for Justin Lin, as he went from a mid-tier action director to the next heir-apparent of the action filmmaking throne. After the success of Fast Five his name was on every shortlist in Hollywood, but even before Fast Five hit and the Terminator deal happened, he was being groomed as the man to requicken Highlander for Summit. That bubble burst some time ago, but Lin will still be involved as a producer and he along with the studio have finally picked who will helm the remake, and it’s Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later)...
Look, ANOTHER movie that is rather silly, but benefitted from a perfect storm of cheese+timing+a strong performance from Clancy Brown/Sean Connery. Why do these folks think they can improve on a formula that SHOULD NOT HAVE WORKED in the first place????

I guess they can be more than one Highlander after all!
Only by living absurdly is it possible to break out of this infinite absurdity.

‘13’ Finally Sees The Light Of Day, Picked Up For Distribution By Anchor Bay > The Playlist

”13,” which stars Sam Riley, Jason Statham, and 50 Cent, amongst others, has finally found a home, two years after it was yanked from the 2010 SXSW festival before its U.S premiere (rumored to be because of in-fighting on the final cut between the director and producers). Either way, “13” was announced as a Toronto International Film Festival pick-up by Anchor Bay. While they haven’t announced their distribution plans, the film is already listed as opening up on one screen in L.A. on October 28th at the Laemmle Theaters, and its Blu-Ray release is already slotted for a week later on November 8, so it doesn’t seem like the final product will have much of a shelf life at all.
This is a director remaking his own movie for the US and, apparently, not having a good time of it.
