Just don't touch my Showgirls.
Oh...I'll touch yer showgirls...
But no, I like McWeeney as a critic but he seems a little harsh on this subject. The things he points out actually seem rather clever to me with the whole Mark1/Mark2/etc, and the call out to "i'll buy that for a dollar". I still have great hopes for this.
Are they remaking Showgirls too? Who is the current version of Jessica Spano? :P
I am going back on forth on the Robocop remake, first I wanted to throw up, and then after reading stuff here, I go to being cautiously optimistic, and now.... ugh!
Flesh & Blood? I've Seen that, lol! I think Verhoeven & Hauer worked together in Holland.
Haha! They can make make an American remake of Verhoeven's recent Blackbook because not enough people saw it because it had them subtitles.
Yeah, I think...was it Soldier of Orange? I think if you go into the Robocop remake/re-imagining completely open minded you may have a better chance of liking it. It is clearly going to be different while constantly reminding people of what came before it(maybe a mistake). I think that Padiha has more of a political agenda which can't hurt in differentiating things. All speculation at this point. I know the cast is strong and the choice of director was inspired...it could go either way. But until I hear what people have watched as opposed to read I will be optimistic. McWeeney could have been reading an earlier draft of the screenplay...who knows. He did say that once it started telling a story it had a story to tell, but he claims it was too little too late. So, rewrites/reshoots/editing...it's just too early to condemn a movie that hasn't even STARTED filming yet.
