Revenge flick recommendations

You do mean Shogun Assassin right (or is there a Baby Cart series that I have to check out???). Yeah Doc, I second this. It's so goofy, over the top violent that you would swear Tarentino made it. And he wishes he did.

The Shogun Assassin series is a dubbed, highly edited version of the Lone Wolf & Cub movies that's basically just the fight scenes and violence.

Both have their charm for different reasons, for sure.

No asian cinema!

If you liked Shogun Assassin, you definitely have to check out the series. As adgy-san notes, Shogun Assassin was basically a re-edit of some of the first movie and some of the second movie. There were 7 films, though I heard they always intended to make 12(?) films in the series. Based on how good it is by the 7th film, I'm really sad these didn't keep going.

All I know is I saw Shogun Assassin @ the Sherman Oaks Galleria after a long night of drinking and other doobious activities whilst electrofrying brain cells at Castle Park arcade...and it blew my already taffylike mind. The scene where the guy had to make it across the room, while parts of his body were hitting the floor, the rolling-down-the-hill ankle remover...ahhhhhh memories!!!!!

Evilspeak is a fun revenge movie in a terrible, dated, Clint-Howard-as-protagonist sort of way. Body count is probably not what you're looking for, but if you want to laugh and cringe at a horror movie, it works.

For that matter, Christine is revenge flick, too.

It's really hard coming up with something that meets all the criteria. Honestly, Oldboy would be the best choice if not for its Asian nature, and, ironically, maybe the best example of revenge movie complete with body count and loads of fun is probably Kill Bill, which is Tarantino's take on Asian cinema.

BTW, does anybody know if the body count on the more current sentai TV shows matches that of the '70s originals? I grew up watching Go Rangers, and there were just bad guys getting pummeled and flying everywhere. Not revenge related, of course, but fun and body count definitely.

Contempt might be the greatest revenge flick of all time. No body count, though, although the body that really counts is Brigitte Bardot.

And with George Miller back behind the camera, it might be a good time to bust out some original Mad Max action.
