I kept waiting for her to say 'can you smell what the Rock is cooking?' Has nothing to do with race/religion and more to do with all the goddamned rotten mushroom poison crammed into her fivehead.

Dumb jokes aside, lol, I really want to like this movie and my standards aren't that high, but alas, I have serious doubts. :/
Lords of Salem, The (2012) | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central
wow...this guy goes back and forth in his review. Sounds like this is a seriously unexpected film.
A woman wrote that review, JD. :P
Dunno, the horror message board I hang out has a lot of Canadian Peeps and some went to the Toronto Film Festival and are having a field day. It does seem like he is doing something different that doesn't involve around inbred white trash (ha!), but still wearing his influences on his sleeve (this time the likes of Russell & Jodorowsky) and like that article said, weird for the sake of weird.
I certainly am willing to give it a try unlike Halloween 2 which I didn't even bother with. Meh.
And darn, if he'd just cast someone else than Sherry Moon in that role. Maybe like Harris? Haha! :chums:
TIFF 2012: Anchor Bay Acquires US Distribution for Rob Zombie's The Lords of Salem | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

From the Press Release:
After much speculation and a heated bidding war, Anchor Bay Films emerged as the new home for Rob Zombie’s The Lords of Salem. Under the agreement, Anchor Bay will handle all U.S. distribution rights on the film. Written and directed by Rob Zombie, The Lords of Salem stars Sheri Moon Zombie (Halloween) as well as Bruce Davison (X-Men), Jeff Daniel Phillips (Halloween 2), Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead), Patricia Quinn (The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Dee Wallace (E.T.) and Judy Geeson (To Sir, With Love). The film premiered last week at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival and received rave reviews from mainstream and genre critics alike. Anchor Bay Entertainment President Bill Clark made today’s announcement.
“We’re extremely excited to be working on this film with Rob,” commented Kevin Kasha, Executive Vice President, Acquisitions and Co-Productions. “It’s a perfect fit for Anchor Bay.”
“I have always been a fan of the care and respect Anchor Bay has put into their genre titles,” said Zombie. “I can’t wait to work together to bring this bizarre, special movie to the masses.”
The Los Angeles Times dubbed The Lords of Salem “his darkest most unnerving yet,” IndieWire declared it “Rob Zombie’s best film” and Dread Central said “fans couldn’t stop talking about the film” after its premiere in Toronto.
Rock star-turned-horror maven Rob Zombie conjures up a nerve-wracking chiller involving Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ, who receives a wooden box containing a vinyl record, "a gift from the Lords." She assumes it’s from a band trying to promote themselves. Heidi and others listen but unbeknownst to them, the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of Salem's violent past. Is Heidi going mad or are the Lords of Salem returning for revenge on modern day Salem?
The deal was negotiated by Kevin Kasha, Marc Barson and Josh Thomashow for Anchor Bay Films and by Josh Braun of Submarine and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones for Alliance Films. Alliance Films financed the film which was produced by Andy Gould, Jason Blum, Oren Peli and Steven Schneider. Kavanaugh-Jones is the executive producer.
Review: Unnerving ‘Lords of Salem’ Is Rob Zombie’s Best Film Yet
Quote:
“The Lords of Salem” is probably goth rocker-turned-filmmaker Rob Zombie’s best film, though it does often prove that the cinephile writer/director is a gifted tyro. At the same time, as his most formally mannered and tonally tempered film, Zombie’s latest also proves his versatility.
Quote:
“The Lords of Salem” is a product of Zombie’s better creative impulses, so it’s ok that it also features several of his worse indulgences, too. [B+.]
Man...a movie that sounded soooooooooo typical. '70's radio djs unearth a witchery'...and the requisite b-movie casting(Peter Brady, Tanner Boyle...etc.) it just sounded like more of the same. Could this be RZ's coming out party? Are we finally going to see him use that unlimited potential??? Or is this a case of the Emperors new clothes. The fact that its obtuse and not completely retarded have folks caught in a spell???? Dunno. I HOPE. I so want RZ to be a 'MASTER OF HORROR'. We shall see.

It's cool till you hit the scene with Sherri Moon doing the Blackie Lawless hairtwirl on the back of a goat...apparently in slo-mo. Overall, it's a nice collection of images that border on self parody. I really want to like this. I hope it's got more substance than style(which it has in spades).
that **** looks metal
