Dunno, the horror message board I hang out has a lot of Canadian Peeps and some went to the Toronto Film Festival and are having a field day. It does seem like he is doing something different that doesn't involve around inbred white trash (ha!), but still wearing his influences on his sleeve (this time the likes of Russell & Jodorowsky) and like that article said, weird for the sake of weird.
I certainly am willing to give it a try unlike Halloween 2 which I didn't even bother with. Meh.
And darn, if he'd just cast someone else than Sherry Moon in that role. Maybe like Harris? Haha! :chums:

Rock star-turned-horror maven Rob Zombie conjures up a nerve-wracking chiller involving Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ, who receives a wooden box containing a vinyl record, "a gift from the Lords." She assumes it’s from a band trying to promote themselves. Heidi and others listen but unbeknownst to them, the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of Salem's violent past. Is Heidi going mad or are the Lords of Salem returning for revenge on modern day Salem?
The deal was negotiated by Kevin Kasha, Marc Barson and Josh Thomashow for Anchor Bay Films and by Josh Braun of Submarine and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones for Alliance Films. Alliance Films financed the film which was produced by Andy Gould, Jason Blum, Oren Peli and Steven Schneider. Kavanaugh-Jones is the executive producer.

Man...a movie that sounded soooooooooo typical. '70's radio djs unearth a witchery'...and the requisite b-movie casting(Peter Brady, Tanner Boyle...etc.) it just sounded like more of the same. Could this be RZ's coming out party? Are we finally going to see him use that unlimited potential??? Or is this a case of the Emperors new clothes. The fact that its obtuse and not completely retarded have folks caught in a spell???? Dunno. I HOPE. I so want RZ to be a 'MASTER OF HORROR'. We shall see.

It's cool till you hit the scene with Sherri Moon doing the Blackie Lawless hairtwirl on the back of a goat...apparently in slo-mo. Overall, it's a nice collection of images that border on self parody. I really want to like this. I hope it's got more substance than style(which it has in spades).
