Rob Zombie Rips Remake! | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central

In the latest Rock! Shock! and Horror issue of Revolver Magazine Rob Zombie and fellow rocker Marilyn Manson get down and dirty about several of their recent/current projects and reveal their best and worst horror movie lists. Speaking of which...

Smack dab in the middle of Zombie's worst list he had some choice and rather ironic comments about Gus Van Sant's Psycho remake.

"I picked this not because it's the worst film ever made, but because it's the most pointless film ever made. To take a perfect movie made by a genius, and remake it - that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life."
Ok. He's not at all wrong. But really? Glass Houses mr. Zombie...Glass Houses.

Even Hitler has the right to badmouth that Psycho remake atrocity.

I am going to build a time machine, go back in time, and make Hitler watch that A Clockwork Orange style. Would've won WWII instantly.

Lords of Salem, The (UK DVD) Review - Dread Central

It would seem that there was simply too much artistic ambition packed into the The Lords of Salem, and no way to make it work without disjointing the entire affair. It should be noted that scenes involving some lauded actors such as Udo Kier are nowhere to be found, or relegated to "blink and you'll miss it" moments of screen time, and the press pack includes a long synopsis/treatment of the film's storyline that bears little resemblance to the actual unfolding of events on-screen. Was it shot to the format of this treatment and subsequently edited to incoherence? Who knows. Promise regularly abounds during The Lords of Salem, but it's far too willing to stop at random and watch itself masturbating in the mirror than to focus on delivering the chills.
