Oh for ****s sake!!!!!! Still entertaining delusions that this will be any different from previous Rob Zombie movies Adgy?????
but i like his other movies...
My biggest bugaboo with all this is that RZ is one of the few people that can get an ORIGINAL horror project through the major studio system and he keeps just treading water. He is following in the footsteps of the people he supposedly admires (Carpenter and all the Masters of Horror) and yet he just keeps going the same sad safe route. Used to be when a director got his name in front of a title(once again, John Carpenter's The Thing/The Fog/etc) it meant that you were being treated to the work of a visionary. Well Rob Zombie is a visionary, unfortunately it's the same repetetive rehashed vision over and over again. Even Devil's Rejects(his best work so far) was more a series of vignettes loosely strung together with b-list cameo appearances and a white trash esthetic. Sound familiar? Expect more mediocrity from the Mind Of Rob Zombie. Bleh.
well unfortunately keeping things "safe" is what also keeps them in business
someone posted about monster squad the other day, so i went back and watched it with the roomies. relatively "unsafe" movie. fred dekker says it killed his career. (besides the fact his comeback was robocop 3 and it got killed again...)
Dekker made Night of the Creeps too. Monster Squad and NOTC are BELOVED! Dekker may have had his career shortened, but in the meantime he made 2 movies that will always remind folks that he had a career. I don't know if that helps him sleep better/pay his bills, but at least the guy made movies that he can be proud of. Robocop 3 was horrible bordering on unwatchable. I would blame that more than anything else.
Rob Zombie could also benefit from having a good writing partner since I really don't dislike his visual style, but his stories could be better.
