I like Chows work but KFH wasnt as good as some of his other movies. I'll get crucified for this but I liked to it Tarantino in that I think having a lower budget actually helps their overall movies and helps contain the wish to go over the top. KFH is still a movie though that can act as a bridge to get something mainstream to spark interest in his past work. Some of his earlier films are almost Chaplinish in scope and certainly worthy of hunting down. Believe it or not ive seen some older titles in the bargain bins at 99cent stores and big lots. Of course the transfer and subtitles leave lots to be desired but then again thats part of the charm of being a film buff no?

Seriously, a lot of his older stuff is so much fun and so funny, I wish more of it was readily accessible. The only movies of his beyond Kung Fu Hustle that actually has a serious, decent US release are the two Royal Tramp films.

Both of these DVDs aren't THAT bad, quality-wise and can be found on Amazon and Netflix. And the previously mentioned Shaolin Soccer is great, too.
