    Default Seven Psychopaths -- Farrell/Rockwell/Rourke/Walken

    Oh hells yeah.

‘In Bruges’ Conspirators Colin Farrell and Martin McDonagh Reunite for ‘Seven Psychopaths;’ Rockwell, Walken & Rourke Along For the Ride

In Bruges writer/director Martin McDonagh has written and will direct a film called Seven Psychopaths, and Colin Farrell is starring. Your indie heroine Megan Ellison is financing, and today at Cannes the project added Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke and Christopher Walken.

Variety announces that the film is about “a screenwriter (Farrell) struggling for inspiration for his script, “Seven Psychopaths,” who gets drawn into the dog kidnapping schemes of his oddball friends (Rockwell and Walken). Things take a turn for the worse when a gangster’s (Rourke) mutt goes missing.”
'In Bruges' was a film that didn't get anywhere near as much love as it deserved, mostly because of horrible marketing. I thought it was great and it made me appreciate Colin Farrell in a way I never thought possible.

Anyone reading this, who has not seen In Bruges, Adgy is 100% correct on this. Not only is it a very brilliant flick with terrific acting all around, but Colin Farrell really does excel. And as someone else who really didn't give a rat's ass about him it was enough to make me a solid fan and now when I see him attached to something I am automatically interested.

Ooof and you know Mickey is gonna go all method and imagine that soemone actually kidnapped one of his beloved dogs. Someone may get hurt. But yeah, Farrell/Walken/Roarke and Rockwell...that's almost too many cool actors in one place.

Mickey Rourke Talks 'Immortals' | CraveOnline

Well, sadly looks like Mickey isn't doing this after all. Also looks like he is starting to forget how easy it is to slide back down to the bottom again. Love him as an actor, but the guy really seems to be his own worst enemy.

still wish it coulda been Mickey. Oh well, I have developed a taste for Woody Harrelson...he is a lot smarter than I thought he was.

SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS Review. SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS Stars Colin Farrell and Sam Rockwell | Collider

A way to work through writer’s block is to write about the writer’s block. At least you’re writing, and you may get something more creative than if you had carefully mapped out your path. I’m not sure if writer-director Martin McDonagh suffered a case of writer’s block on his way to creating Seven Psychopaths, but the end result is brash, brilliant, wickedly fun, and the best film about screenwriting since Adaptation. Psychopaths is viciously funny, delightfully clever, and meta without being cloyingly self-conscious. McDonagh’s machine-gun script races with energy fueled by wild performances from stars Sam Rockwell, Colin Farrell, and Christopher Walken. The movie doesn’t simply break through writer’s block; Seven Psychopaths gleefully blows the block to hell.
and now I want to see this even more!!!!!!

Review: Sam Rockwell and Chris Walken soar in seriously silly Seven Psychopaths

If I have any complaint, it would just be that the film doesn't have a deeper emotional resonance. Still, when you're playing a self-aware game like this, that's not really the point. It's a well-crafted film, and if you're willing to play the game that McDonagh's laid out, it's a really rewarding experience. I found myself howling at even the production design, but if I gave you specific examples, I'd rob you of the joy of seeing them for yourselves. Suffice it to say "Seven Psychopaths" is the sort of comedy that will reward repeat viewings, dense with both verbal and visual humor, and smart about the way it deconstructs itself even as it plays.
