Legendary Lalo Schifrin Getting Box Set Treatment With 4-Disc Release To Feature Unreleased Movie Scores & More | The Playlist
NICE.Aleph Records has put together a 4 CD box set that covers Schifrin's entire career, putting together a tracklist of selected film work as well as various jazz and classical pieces. Of note to film buffs will be prevoiusly unreleased pieces from Schifrin's work on the Don Siegel films "Charley Varrick" (an undersung little '70s gem), "The Beguiled" and "Coogan's Bluff" in addition to tracks from George C. Scott's "Rage" and John Sturges' "Joe Kidd." Of course, pieces from his more remembered scores in pictures like "Enter the Dragon," "Dirty Harry," "Cool Hand Luke," "Kelly's Heroes" and more will featured as well.
All told, for soundtrack lovers, it's the stuff of dreams. Lalo Schifrin: My Life in Music will hit stores on November 6th.
I checked out Sinister last night, and some of the music was really, really good, especially on the cut scenes of the footage he found. I was thinking that it was stuff that I would normally listen to... so today I checked it out and found out that some of the bands that were involved were Boris, Sunn O, Boards of Canada, Aghast, amongst others. I also found out that not all of their music was included in the Soundtrack, bummer...
