I pretty much agree. Really liked last night's episode.
meh. Feels like they are going through the motions a bit.
Well, let me clarify...they have been pretty funny in a very standard sitcommy way. But I expect more from SP and cash4gold/leaving the toilet seat up are a far cry from the high concept of Cartmans probe or the Aliens were at the first Thanksgiving of seasons past. I did like the diy music during the India to America gold transfer montage though.
when I was a kid I had a grandfather who used to give me a bolo every birthday or holiday occasion....I had a whole collection by the time I was 13.

Cash 4 Gold wasn't that funny. I haven't seen the season premiere yet. It wasn't "NOT funny"... it just wasn't that funny.
EDIT : And unlike other episodes of South Park it didn't feel particularly controversial. Maybe it's because the villainy of the episode seems so patently obvious or maybe it's because I've watched so much South Park that I'm becoming a little numb.

Or Stone/Parker are just bored with it. C'mon...what are they on the gazillionth season. And it really kinda is just the two of them doing it.
True. I think those that you mentioned, and the Thor/Alien Thanksgiving mash-up were some of the more inspired eps for quite a while...I also loved the Schitty Beef/Sushi episode, but those are few and far between. So far this season's eps could be considered nice filler. Not bad...just unspectacular. My point is how long can they be expected to keep that high level up? Hence the phoned-in comments. Decent SP is still better than none, but the concept and it's creators have got to be running low on the shock/awe. They are to be commended, they kept it up for a long time. But even Family Guy, which I know is divisive, feels like it has worn out it's welcome. MacFarlane has even said if he had his way it would be over by now. South Park does not have the budget/writing staff that FG/Simpsons has...so they have even less fresh voices to keep the wheels turning. Comedy Central would take a significant hit if SP went away so they keep throwing money at the boys and the law of diminishing returns kicks in.
