How is this season compared to the first 2?
Totally loved Blood and Sand and Gods of the Arena (own both box sets) but found it a little hard getting into this season.
Not a huge fan of Liam McIntyre thus far -have only watched the 1st 3 episodes - but hope he grows on me.
Kind of the way I felt too. I was really trying to get past it and enjoy the other characters but I lost interest because it became very dump'n'chase. They save somebody, somebody else gets captured, run through the forest...It's almost as if losing the lutus was as bad for the show as losing Whitfield. That would explain why Gods of the Arena was almost as good as the first season.
It gets better. Keep with it. The finale was insane. No one can replace Whitfeld, but Liam McIntyre does about as good as anyone could of taking over the role. Also have to keep in mind that Spartacus is growing and becoming the leader of the rebels as known in history. Next season will be epic battles from history on a far grander scale.

personally, I loved this season. I'm not sure if it was better or worse than the first or second seasons. It's just fantastic television.
it took me a while to accept Liam McIntyre. Andy Whitfield was amazing and I still miss him every time I watch an episode, but I think Liam has actually done a really good job with the character. He has that same quiet fire and energy that Andy Whitfield had. he just commands your attention and I think he's grown into the role.
this season was just fantastic and the finale is bat**** crazy. I'm still kind of in shock actually. I'd say just keep with it. It'll be worth it, in my opinion.

Finale aired up here tonight. Wow! The most mind blowing (and bloody) ending to a season... Ever?
Just watching episode 5 now...

Starz Airing SPARTACUS Marathong in Chronological Order
Got caught up...w/just the finale to watch. Feel bad for the new guy. He's trying but he just had some huge sandals to fill. Same with Nieva(whatever...Krixus' woman). Don't like her at all. Too much already with the romantic subplot for old Sparty too. I dunno...it just feels a LOT more repetetive and a lot...cheaper, than the first 2 seasons did. I feel bad not liking it, but I just can't. Maybe the finale' will bring it home for me but so far, in gladiator style, I gotta give it a thumbs down.
